WWYD?

I bought a dress about a month or so ago, and I wore it once to a wedding in NJ.  I then brought it back to Omaha with me and took it to Hyvee to get it dry cleaned.  It should be noted that we take all our dry cleaning there and have never had a problem.  Yesterday, I went to take it off the hanger to pack it, and realized that they used safety pins on a silk dress and it left tiny holes (there are 5 of them in total).  I am pissed.  Who puts pins through a silk dress??  Let alone a dry cleaner?

I need to go there today to talk to them about it, and I''m not sure what to ask for in terms of compensation.  Do I bring the receipt and ask for the full price of the dress?  Something else?  WWYD?

Re: WWYD?

  • Long time ago I had a suit I took to the cleaners and the color bled on the white part of the suit.  I was upset and tried to appeal to the dry cleaners and they shrugged their shoulder and said.  Sorry nothing they can do.

Expect that.  They may say that since you didn't notice it before you left, they can not determine who is responsible for the pin holes in the dress.

Thanks, I'll be prepared.  What would you ask for in terms of compensation?

  • I would bring the receipt from the dress if you still have it... that's not OK!

    Good Luck!

  • See if they will repay for the dress.  If not and you still are okay with them cleaning your other clothes...not silk, then ask for free drycleaning for x months or for x amount.
