Anniversary Gift ideas

Ok so the  10th is our anniversary and I didn't even think about a gift to get DH. I know now it is pretty much too late to order anything without paying ridiculous shipping costs. We are going to Chicago for the weekend and are going to see Beauty and the Beast so I don't want to spend too much - maybe $50 - $100. Any ideas?

Re: Anniversary Gift ideas

  • I saw on some board on here (maybe Decorating & Renovating) a really cute idea.   Instead of buying gifts for each other, they buy a gift together.  They buy artwork for their home based on what the traditional gift should be.   Like for paper- they bought a print of some sort.  For cotton- they bought an abstract cotton plant hanging thing (horrible description, but it looked cool).   So maybe you can look for something together instead on your trip this weekend?
  • Oh- and I have no idea what we are doing yet for ours.  I know I bought him file folders (paper) b/c he currently doesn't use them and if he asks me to look for anything house related, I just get mad at him b/c it's only organized in his mind.   So he (we) will get nicely organized & properly labeled house files!
  • My gift idea is kind of random, but if I remember correctly, your DH is a car guy.  Am I right?

I am going to get DH a personalized license plate for his one car.  His "paper" gift will be the registration form, because I don't think it will be in by our anniversary.  Or if it is, I am just going to give him the paper first and then the plate to keep with tradition!

  • Instead of doing gifts, DH and I just bought something we wanted together.  We like to cook, so we got the ice cream maker and pasta roller attachments for our KitchenAid mixer!  Got great deals on them too!

We'll be going out to eat this weekend and doing cards on Sunday, but that's about it.

  • Somehow I thought the first anniversary was cotton so I thought I was spot on by ordering a Polo shirt DH wanted.  Then I discovered it is paper so now I'm not sure.  He asked me about it last night since he's not sure what to get me either.  I'll have to look for some creative ideas.

Yep he is a car guy - If we didn't just already order his plates that would have been an awesome idea :) I think I am going to get him a few magazine subscriptions that he wants. Follow in the paper tradition :)

    Thanks for all the help

  • Since it was our paper anniversary, DH and I got each other framed photos. His photo to me was a picture of my three boys (DH, DS, and fur-son). I gave him a three panel frame with a wedding photo of us on one end, our wedding invitation in the middle, and a space left open for a photo of our family on our anniversary.
