good antique places around town (or in little towns around town)

i am stir crazy and need to get out of the house, and my back is finally feeling better... i think i'm going to go antique hunting today. any suggestions of places? i'd rather go to the kinda junky places than the places down on westheimer. i'm looking for diamonds in the rough... not $300 ice buckets.

Not sure where you live in the Houston area but Tomball has alot. We always drive by them when we go out there to visit my in-laws.

Between Cypress and Spring. Where are you coming from?

Go north on 249, turn right on 2920 and it will take your through downtown.

Ditto all the Tomball recs. I was raised in Tomball and my great grandparents and great-great grandparents owned one of the stores on Main Street when it was a dirt road nearly 100 years ago. Also, if you are looking for some good food while you are down there then you should look up The Whistle Stop Tea Room. It is in walking distance of all the shops. The tortilla soup is yummy and their desserts are ammmmazing! Not sure when you are going but they are only open M-Sat from 11am until 3pm. Have fun!

There's also an antique mall on 2920 right near 45. I prefer it over OTS (which is over-priced in my opinion). Tomball has a few hidden gems too.

Montrose area, specifically where Dunlavy and Westheimer intersect there are a TON of shops right there and even a lot scattered on the North side of Westheimer on all the side streets. You can also hit up some of the clothing shops right there, like American Apparel, Duo, Buffalo Exchange for resale and Wish. And for lunch you can go to Brasil, Empire Cafe or Paulie's which are all within walking distance.

i think the people on westheimer know me by name...lol. i go there OFTEN when i need a brain-clearing kind of day. my favorites are BJ Oldies and Lou B's.

honestly, sometimes i just need a change of scenery, new stuff to look at. my "dates with myself" are usually doing something like this, just browsing stuff, looking at stuff, thinking of stuff other than my job (which is pretty much all-encompassing these days). when i have a free day, which is rare, i like to get lost in old junk ; )

there's a place in alvin i haven't been to, so maybe i'll go there, then make my way up to spring if i don't spend too much time in alvin!!!
