Ventsday

Because I'm starting the morning with a lot of annoyance.

1. When getting married OOT in a swank area, please for the love of all that is holy book your guests a friggin' hotel block. We are attending a wedding in September and recently learned that our choices are a) $$$$ resort or b&b b) coordinating with a bunch of others for a group house (for a weekend? WTF?) c) paying $$ for a sh!tty Best Western. We will likely stay at the sh!tty BW, but it would have been awfully nice to get some kind of discount.

2. I'm about to block my derelict uncle from FB. He is bitching and moaning about the Casey Anthony verdict and oh the humanity will somebody please think about the children. This MFer was arrested for a DUI last year WITH HIS KIDS IN THE CAR. No seatbelts. On his way to the liquor store. SHUT UP, IDIOT. YOU COULD HAVE KILLED YOUR OWN KIDS.

Ahhh. I think that does it. Anyone else?

Re: Ventsday

  • I'm supposed to start ivf meds sunday.  We've had to delay doing this for all kinds of reasons.  The latest glitch is the pharmacy which is supposed to send my meds is out of the one I need and there's a nationwide shortage.  They say my doctor's office won't return some paper so they can send everything to another pharmacy.  My nurse is on vacation and nobody from my doctor's office will return my calls.

    Frustrated.

  • mine's kind of minor, but we got some baskets for ikea to put on a bookcase.  they smell like over-brewed green tea.  and, for the past few days, our house has smelled like over-brewed green tea.  i would open the windows, but it's too freaking hot to even consider that.

so, here i sit in a stinky house hoping that any day now it will stop stinking.

Are you starting Lupron?  The only reason I ask is because I JUST got my hands on some after waiting 2 1/2 months.  CVS Caremark has it in stock right now.

I am going to join is since I have had a really irritating morning.

    1. See post above (need quick advice)

    2. I found out this morning a relative is pregnant which would be wonderful if for the past few months they weren't complaining about how hard it is to take care of two kids. Case in point, last week,  they got back from vacation and said they would never go on vacation again without their two nannies because it is just too much work taking care of their kids all day.  What?!

  • 1.  I'm really, really tired of being bored to tears at work each day.  I'm used to the ebbs and flows of work but this has been going on for about a week and a half!  And on top of it my boss keeps complaining about how busy he is (he's not really that busy) but then won't delegate additional work to his support!! I think he just likes to complain!

    2.  Buying a new house is stressful!! Way more than I imagined.  And I'm done being stressed!  If I'm not worried about the closing I'm worried about the appraisal or packing or moving all of our stuff out or painting the new place and the old place!  Ugh!

  • 1. Our neighbors, who have a similar house to ours, are selling their house for $150k less than the price we paid in 2007. Cue the violins.

    2. I'm attending a wedding in 2 weeks and NONE of my dresses fit me. I'm still nursing, and my chest is 2 sizes larger than it has ever been before. Argh! I really don't want to buy a dress just for this event, but I may have to.

  • i am still a little miffed about not being able to go to zaytinya on sunday night. they were closed for a private party but didn't list that on their site or opentable. >:[

after not using PCs for nearly a year, i kind of hate them. my laptop is three years old and is faster and doesn't have a fraction of the problems that this stupid work PC has.

  • A coworker scheduled a meeting in Herndon from 3:30 -4:30 this afternoon. It's fine for her because she lives in Herndon. I live in Wheaton. So I get to sit in Beltway traffic to get home.

And I forgot about the meeting and came in at my normal time (I usually work 8-4). So instead of getting home at 4:45, I'll get home at 5:45 and I could have had an extra few minutes at home with LO this morning.

ETA: After reading the neighborhood post on the DC bump, I started looking at listings in my area and found several for great mid-century split levels (which is the type of house I like) for what I paid for my house, or for less than what I paid for my house. We bought two years ago, so got a fair price, and I love my house. I just need to keep reminding myself that I love my house....

  • I'm just over all the Facebook Casey Anthony outrage in general. I did not follow the case because I found it incredibly depressing. Even more depressing is the fact that children are abused, abducted and murdered every d@mn day and the only ones that seem to get all the media attention are the cute little white girls. If attention whhores like Nancy Grace really cared about "the children" more than their ratings, they would be working for justice for all these kids--not just the very photogenic ones.

    /rant over.

  • 1.  I got rained on today walking to work.  I am seriously annoyed.

    2.  Our new neighbors have 2 tiny Yorkies.  They walk them, off leash, on our busy street.  These dogs have no collars, no tags, no registration.  And the woman had the gall to yell at me yesterday while I was walking my dog because we got close to the area where she was with her unleashed, misbehaving dogs.  My dog sat on the sidewalk on command and waited until she corralled her brat dogs to proceed.  Makes.me.furioussss.  I'm one incident away from calling animal control and having them removed.  Oh, and our HOA says you can have 1 pet.  1.  Not 2.

    Yep, Lupron.

If you can get a hold of your doctor's office, hopefully they can switch it for you.  I'm sorry that they won't call you back, it is easy to get angry when you're dealing with something that important.

  • Mine are seriously petty.

I am seriously so over hearing someone I know speak. I am tired of you referring to your car as a luxury vehicle. It's a damn honda accord. It might have all the bells and whistles but it is not a 'luxury' vehicle.

My neighbors annoy me. Who decides to fry fish and somehow fall asleep in the middle of cooking? Luckily the alarm systems work (because the smoke did not wake up from your slumber) and there was not a large fire.

I hate spending money on suits but I desperately need one or two more.

    this made me LOL...

  • Mine are pretty petty.

Brought my car in for service today and it's going to cost almost $400 for everything that needs done. If we had brought it in two months ago like we were supposed to, it would still be under warranty and probably all free.

While I wait, I went over to the new Rockville Whole Foods for the free wifi and some tea. Their wifi was TERRIBLE. I couldn't load e-mails, couldn't open files - I ended up leaving after an hour. Now I'm sitting at the dealers and having no issues (first-world problems, anyone?).

The other thing is that we are switching banks to my agency's credit union, so we've been slowly switching over all our automatic payments. DH switched over our mortgage and removed our old bank from the system. But somehow, it went through on our old account, so now we have a HUGE negative balance. Neat! We'll be dealing with that tonight.

  • I wish mine were just petty... I SO need this today.

My grandma passed away over the weekend (she lived in AZ, along with my aunt, uncle, and cousins). My aunt couldn't make any arrangements until yesterday due to the holiday. The service is Friday and the internment is Monday, meaning I have to take 4 days off of work. My boss is ok with it, but I know he isn't happy since my coworker is already off all of those days, meaning he'll be by himself. And we have 50,000 annual statements out, so we're getting slammed with calls.

To top it off, I don't have a flight booked yet because I don't even know if my dad can go (it was his mother). He springs it on me this morning that he's had an ear infection for 2 weeks- hasn't told anyone, not even my mom knows the extent of it. He's gone to med express, and is going back today. They said before that he shouldn't fly. I'm hoping that will change after seeing him today. My heart is breaking over the fact that he may not be able to go. So either he'll come down tomorrow and we'll fly out together, or I'm going alone to represent.

On top of this, we're getting ready to go on vacation in 10 days, so $$ there, plus I got a $110 dentist bill in the mail last week that I'm trying to get lowered. The dentist said x-rays were covered for every 2 years, but it's 3 with my insurance. I should have known I guess.... lesson learned the hard way.

Sorry for the long wall of text, but that made me feel slightly better!

  • Very petty but I'm annoyed that Let's Dish hasn't yet acknowledged my blueberry buckle debaucle. (They substituted for my beloved feta egg bake without asking and it exploded all over my delivery. My entire freezer is sticky.) All I want is my egg bake. Clearly I'm too lazy to call. But I will. I'm just really surprised nobody's gotten back to me because they're usually fantastic about customer service.

  • My boss is on vacation but is still managing to piss me the fcuk off.

God damn him and his smart phone.

He also forgot that I am on vacation next week and seemed inconvenienced about it.  Tough shiiiiiit.

  • I've got so much to do at work all the time, and I finally got permission to hire an admin/assistant for my area who can take some of the load off. Great, right? Except we're in the middle of the busiest time when I need this person, and our recruiter keeps sending me crap resumes. This is a basic job doing data entry and admin work. I do not need someone with a master's degree and 7 years experience. Is it so hard to find a recent college graduate who is eager and excited to start their career? I don't want someone who is resentful of the boring entry level job they had to take because it was all they could find in this economy.

your HR sounds like DH's. he found his job via the listing his then boss posted on craigslist because HR was only providing crap resumes. and i know they had an equally hard time with HR when they were expanding his department.

I'm having the same problem!  And our HR dept keeps going through this TERRIBLE temp agency.

  • Kimward- Sorry for your loss.  Logistics really get in the way at times like these.  Hope your Dad can join you.
  • I'm sorry for your loss Kim.  I think everything is always more stressful when dealing with a loss.  I hope your dad feels well enough to fly.
  • Thanks ladies. Not that many will see this, but he couldn't go because of the ear infection. I went to represent. It all worked out, but it was tough not having him there.
