Moms: Winter baby question.

I'm from WI so when I think of newborns in the winter I think tiny little snow suits and wool hats.  So, I'm not sure the extent I need to go with winterizing my LO.  Definitely hats and a heavy blanket over the baby in the car seat but beyond that, I don't know the best route.  Any suggestions?

Re: Moms: Winter baby question.

  • I just had a little hat on his head. When I would dress him, I would have an undershirt under his t-shirts. I also had long sleeve onesies that help a lot as well. The winters aren't too rough here. A fleece jacket or one that is lined would work and keep baby warm.

  • That's what I figured.  Thank you so much!

  • I had plenty of hats and blankets. I ended up sending DH to buy a fleece swaddle  and then some thicker sleepers to use during the day.

I have a few fleece blankets on our registry and some thicker sleepers as well.  And of course I just found the absolute cutest little hoodie at Kohls with bear ears on it.  My poor bank account.  It's doomed.  :)

  • I dont really have anything to add. I just wanted to check on you. Are you feeling better now? Are you due in January? Are you going to find out what you're having or have it be a surprise?
  • Yes, I am feeling much better!  Thank you.  :)  I think pretty  much 90% of the nausea/barf purgatory is gone now.  I do get car sick really easily but I had that before I was pg too.  The biggest issue I have now is headaches but with regular massages and chiropractor appointments, I seem to be able to manage them okay.  I have much more energy and I'm actually starting to look pregnant more than just fat.  lol

Yes, I am due 1/1/12, but I guess I keep measuring a few days ahead, so we will see what happens.  I think a tax write-off for 2011 would be lovely.  lol  We are going to find out what gender it is.  But I ahve to wait until 20 weeks because I don't have another ultrasound until then.

  • I have crazy headaches too. The doc gave me Fioricet (sp?) for them. It doesn't really help me much, but it may help you! I've been calling all the aches and pains "pregnancy perks." haha. I forgot about the taxes...that's a perk I'm happy to take! Mine was supposed to be at 20 weeks too, but they did it early. There were a few measurements they were unable to get, so I'll have another on the 20th. I'm holding off on buying nursery stuff until then...in case they were wrong about the gender. The tech was pretty confident it's a girl though.
  • I think most of the nursery stuff I have picked out is gender neutral anyway but then again, I think I might change my mind once I know if this baby is a boy or girl.

I have the headaches on the list of questions for the doc at my next appointment.  I think if I can manage them without other drugs I will go that route though.  I am so impatient to know if this baby is a boy or girl.  According to the HBs, it's a girl.

  • I don't have any advice to offer baby clothes wise, I just wanted to add how excited I am for both of you! Luvvy, I'm glad you're feeling better. I hope you're feeling well enough for our gtg.

  • B was a summer baby, but when it got cold out we put him in fleece footie pajamas if we were going to be outside for an extended period of time with blankets and a hat.  Fleece jammies will be your best friend!
