apparently, we can't - lol!
i ordered honey ham at the deli counter. the package sticker said honey turkey, but i think they were the same price, so i let it go and didn't say anything. i ordered all of a 1/4 pound - so just a few bucks - maybe $2-3. and i figured he may have typed inthe wrong code and got turkey instead. and i already waited 15 min for this one item and needed to move on.
Ava wanted a turkey, ham, cheese roll up. We had turkey from Costco - also honey flavored.
This morning i open the package of "ham" and i think it looks like turkey. I taste a bit. I just taste the sweet honey and seriously cannot tell if it's honey turkey or honey ham. DH tries it - he thinks it's turkey.
I pull off a piece and it's color is much closer to ham - pink - but it does taste like turkey.
so anyway, i gave her a slice of the ham-urky, a slice of turkey and the cheese and told her it was what she asked for. she probably won't know the difference. because we don't either - haha!
and i took some ham-urkey for lunch too. maybe i'll be able to tell after a few bites. i don't even really like ham, so i hope it's turkey.
Re: can you tell the difference between deli turkey and deli ham?
What shape is it? Maybe that will help figure it out. LOL I have never had that happen I have gotten the wrong thing and it pisses me off.
similar shape to turkey!!!!
i think it was ham. either way, the sandwich was good: honey turkey, honey ham-urkey, mashed avocado, buttercrunch lettuce from our farm share, grainy country dijon mustard and a flax-something or other sandwich thin.
i have definately been there before!
