This is what happens when you play softball and want to win, sliding into home!

  • How's your torn rotator cuff?
30 Rock Pictures, Images and Photos
  • I got a repeat MRI and they couldnt see anything on there. They figured there was alot of swelling on the first one hence the reason for the second. They labeled it as a sprain and had me stretching it out ALOT. I wasnt allowed to play for a week but all is good now, just some stiffness.   In all honesty it made my pitching better lol. the game before I had to sit out I walked 5 players (keep in mind we were playing in pouring down rain and everything was soaked) to only walking 1 player yesterday. The coach for another team who was at the hosptial same time I was keep referring to that moving where that kid broke his arm and when it healed he throw fastballs and went to play in the major leagues and he was like 12 lol.  Thanks for asking!

But with the games I played yesterday (2) I was asked to be part of an All Star team to play a 3rd game where the coach put me in as short stop. OMG the first hit of the game came right at me and  broke the stitching of my glove lol.

  • I am concerned about your drug seeking behaviors.

I am concerned about your drug seeking behaviors.

HA! I only took the Valium for the first two nights and that was to relax the shoulder so I could sleep (bottle only had 5 and there are 3 left and its sitting in the back of the cabinet), then it was mobic. (mobic is an anti inflamitory) I took the codoen* once and that was only after the stretching session that left me in some pain. (this was a bottle of 20 and there are 19 left)  Then at my appointment they gave me another cortizone injection to bring down the inflamed tissue. And prilosec and heartburn meds.    So if you call that drug seeking behaviors go right on ahead.

  • So they said you had torn your rotator cuff without reading the MRI. Then you get an appointment the very next day that they get another MRI that day and read it that day then tell you to lay off for a week then it's all good. And you played three games in a row straight off an apparently seriously painful injury? Yep. Okay.

  • So what you're saying is your "life, limb or eyesight" trip to the ER was cured with stretching and cortizone?

Please stop using the ER.  For real.

  • If you ladies do not remember the E.R. made my appointment for me since I could not get one on my own. At my appointment  I was then sent directly to an off post hosptial for a second MRI (this would be a Korean hospital). I had this appointment 4 days after the visit to the E.R.  The reason why I went to the E.R. in the first place was because I was in so much pain that I couldnt sleep, I couldnt even put on clothes without help.

I was then sent back to the clinic with the MRI disk where the doctor and radiologist looked over the results and said there appeared to be no tear.  I was given another injection for inflamation. I was then told after the pain wore off from the injection I could start playing again, that took about 2 days.  I was told to stretch and was given exercises to do so properly.

As for my kids I am still have issues getting them appointments. I have resorted to having to call the peds doctor himself and having him determine if he wants to dx over the phone or have them brought to him right away.   Also now when families are brought over command sponosored they now have to sign a wavier saying that medical care is slim.  Its a first come first serve basis rather than the catagory system they had before.

Also the E.R. (which is Air Force) would rather us come to them then use our after hours care that does not have a doctor on staff after 1700 and on weekends, they do not have use of xrays or other devices. They are not even confident in the staff here.

And as per the other people comments the only person that I can comment on is JustMe and Casey has already PCS'd back to the states she left a few weeks ago.

I think most AF bases are switching over to first come, first serve.  I love it.  I used to wait five weeks for simple appointments, now I'm in within two days.

Of course you're still having trouble getting your kids in for appointments.  I think you're missing the irony of the situation.  When people with minor problems hog the resources, the people with more severe issues can't get in.  My last two bases have issued books about caring for yourself at home, and this base issues one specifically for parents.  If you haven't consulted the manual, they'll be crabby with you.

I think active duty servicemembers should have priority at the clinic and I think we should have co-pays for Tricare.

Didn't catch that. Could have been a typo though. It happens.

However, repeatedly writing "alot" indicates something else...

The problem with this is we are not on an AF installation. (I had to go to one for the E.R. because we do not have one).  This is an Army post overseas where there are way more families that are NCS than CS.  The problem with this is that NCS are supposed to be seen if there is space. There is not any extra space. Only 20% of the population is command sponsored and its leaving the pcms at the clinic overworked and underdstaffed because the Post command believes there is enough room for everyone and has open the clinic to all catagorys.

In all fairness to those who took the steps and waited to get proper authrozation to bring their families here NCS should be upheld to what was said in the begining. They need to be seen if there is space, not first come first serve. They are supposed to be on Tricare Standard because they choose to come to a location without going through the proper channels and if there are no appointments they are to see an off post provider (hence the reason for standard).

Since we are here CS we are on Prime and for anything off post we have to have a referrel. Its very hard to get appointments here because you are not allowed to make appointments out more than 2 weeks out. Ex. At a childs 1 year well baby visit you can not make an appointment for their 18month well baby visit, you have to call 1-2 weeks before and pray they have something and in most cases you are told No and wait 2-3 months. The people making appointments are not trained staff so they do not know the difference in routine and acute care.  And they only reason I got an appointment was because the E.R. staff made it.

Now if we were back in the states I would be all for first come first serve because you have other choices but being where we are those choices are few and far between. Now CS families have to sign a paper saying that healthcare is limitied.

And as per Active Duty soldiers they are only sent to the clinic if their medics think they should be seen. Most of flight docs that take care of each company/batt. whichever the situation. And at that point in time they are trasnported about 2 hours away to the hosptial.
