I think I'm in love...

with our reno guy. He came over last night to get our downpayment for the roof and have us sign a contract. He's a friend so he ended up staying for awhile and we got to talking about A/C units. He said that since we already have the duct work for our forced air heat, that it should really only be like $800-$1K for an unit and the installation. We were considering spending $500 for 2 window units.

Umm, we could totally swing that. I think we're going to wait it out this year, and then look into this next Spring. But that is so exciting!

  • YAY I am so head-over-heels happy for you!!!! And jealous!

...you still don't have a dishwasher, right? Because I don't think I could handle it.

LOL! No, no dishwasher. Probably won't ever get one either because of our stupid kitchen layout. Seriously, the more I live here, the more I'm like "what were we thinking? what were the flippers thinking?" And don't be jealous of me until we actually get the A/C - that's a whole different hurdle that we have to cross after paying off our roof!

I have a long list of things I want to do for this house, and none of them are cheap. Like replace all our windows, install garage door openers (we need 2), fence in our .75 acre yard, rebuild decks, new siding, etc, etc. I'm thinking that we have to stay in this house for 20 years just to get all my projects done!

  • That's so awesome!!! Whoooo hooooo for central air!

Oh, I know. Expensive renos are all I have in mind, too. We could use a new roof, new windows, (what I wouldn't give for central air but we have no ducts to the bedrooms) and need to overhaul the garage. Obviously we aren't going to do any of this unless the roof caves in, the windows explode, or we get a new vehicle that we want to protect from the elements (that is the only plausible one) since we will only live here for 5 more years tops. But, it's fun to dream.

  • That's great news and totally worth the investment.  And just think the central air  will cool more than just two rooms and use the same amount of energy.
