Well, the first funny thing that happened was when we landed in PR and were headed toward our gate. We actually had to stop the plane because an iguana was on the tarmac and we had to wait for it to get out of the way. That was a first for me. :-) Other than that, we only saw one other iguana the whole time we were there.
Many of the roads there are crazy and very poorly marked, so driving was an adventure. We got turned around/took a few wrong turns a few times due to the lack of good road signs, but overall we really enjoyed having the rental and being able to explore the island on our own schedule. Finding different beaches, lighthouses, etc. on our two road trips made for some amazing views (that are often hard to really capture on camera).
I know PR is a US Territory, but it still was a lot more "westernized" than I had expected (lots of chain fast food places, walmarts, walgreens, etc.). Felix said it didn't use to be like that. Still, we managed to get some good Puerto Rican food in our bellies! :-)
