What are your feelings on bonuses

I have never posted here but I have a question.  Do you feel that bonuses should be considered a reward or should be considered a factor to get you to the standard of living you are used to?

As a boss I only give them as a reward for exceptional performance if the company did well.

Reward. The second option sort of sounds like a COLA to me. Even then, COLAs aren't guaranteed.

  • Reward for measureable results.
