Tax and title on a new car...any estimates?
The most expensive I am looking at is the 2012 Focus hatchback (around $20k). Does anyone know what taxes and title generally are at a dealer?
When I registered my current car it was only $500ish, but it is an older car.
I just want an idea of a dollar amount so I can budget a little better. I may have to get a different car if it is going to be a lot...
TIA
Re: Tax and title on a new car...any estimates?
I just bought a new car two weeks ago. With a selling price of $22000, the taxes were $1321 and tag/title was $208.
However, I think on July 1st the MVA tag/title fees increased by about double. Hope this helps.
I misread mine, it was $218 total. It broke down like this: Tags $148 Title $50 Lein $20. It is the title fee that increased to $100. The tags didn't increase.

Oh, but the dealer processing charge, which is usually around $100 (it was $99 for my new car, and $99 when I bought a new car in '06) can now be $200.
So you're paying a ton of money in fees either way. Ridiculous!
