Bottom of oven?

I have always put aluminum foil on the bottom of my oven to keep it clean. I recently heard that you're not supposed to do it for a variety of reasons. What do you use, if anything? I saw some non-stick liners online. Using nothing and just using the self-clean feature isn't an option because it will drive me crazy!

Re: Bottom of oven?

  • I don't use anything, and just put a sheet pan under anything like a casserole that might bubble over a little.  I've never even had to clean my oven.

  • I use those WS ones and love them.  You can take it out, wipe it down and put it back in.  I even found them at a discount store, but honestly, they are worth every penny even at full price.

This!! But I try to out a cookie sheet under any thing that I'm afraid will boil over.

  • I *try* to remember to put a cookie sheet underneath just in case something bubbles over. DH consistently cooks pizzas & dumps cheese onto the bottom of the oven & then it burns & then he never cleans them up....(I'll stop ranting before I start!)

I found Easy Off fume free oven cleaner & Walmart. It works pretty well.

I've also seen some oven protector things on solutions.com, but Im not sure how pricey they are.

  • I received one of those non stick sheets as a shower gift and it's amazing!  Love it!  I hate chemical smells, they give me migraines, so my husband would have to clean the oven and I couldn't come home for hours.

This is actually way cheaper in the long run and much better for my health and the environment.
