Who is your Internet provider?

If it's uverse I don't want to hear about it as we can't get it. We want to get rid of comcast because they suck big fat donkey balls. Our Internet has been out for a week and they are saying they can't do jack crap till Monday.

Re: Who is your Internet provider?

  • AT&T has non-Uverse internet still, right?

They do and that's who I used before Uverse came out of the sky like manna.

I'm surprised you still can't get it.

Do we have to have phone line for the regular one?

  • We have AT&T--not Uverse--without a home phone line. (We only have our cells for our voice services).

We've been with AT&T for 3 years, and we have a service issue about once every 6 months. Usually resolved within 2 days, but the phone line customer service tends to be absolutely incompetent. We pay...$15/month...maybe $20 for the slowest DSL speed. We have to call every year because its an introductory rate and they try to raise it--we then threaten to leave and they give us another year at the introductory rate.

  • Verizon. The internet service itself is fine but the customer service sucks a big one. I hate Verizon.

    Yes
  • We are stuck with comcast and I HATE them!  My internet has been up & down for weeks and they can't figure it out, my on demand in the box in my bedroom doesn't work even after switching out 2 boxes, and 1/2 the channels on the tv in the living room have no sound from time to time.

Before we had Uverse, we had ATT with no home line.  It was a PITA without a home phone line, especially when you call in and cannot key in your home phone number because you don't have one.

  • We have non-uverse att.  We have the professional package since I use it for work and DH plays WoW and needs the faster speeds to keep his game from buffering... It's 35/mo I believe.  I've had no real issues.  They were out working on something over the weekend in the neighborhood and the speeds were slow but since then they've gone back to normal.  I haven't had any outages or anything in the 8 months we've lived here.

We're stuck with Comcast too but I've never had issues with our internet...ever.

Is the On Demand not working on just one tv or all tvs?  Have they sent out a technician to your house?

We had a problem when they switched to the new guides and our On Demand would not work on any of our tvs and I had switched out the box several times.   I finally got a technician to come out and it was a back end problem but the only way to fix it is for a tech to come out and then he has to call a certain office to get the problem fixed.  Basically they have to uncheck something on a computer somewhere.

It is available, but we actually have Dish for TV and Verizon for home phone and internet. It just worked out cheaper that way, oddly. When I mention U-Verse to people up here, they look at me like I've sprouted a second head. Wish we could get that.

ditto - i have comcast...HATE the cable tv. Couldnt do without their internet. For the price & speed, we stick with them. DH does call every 6 months and get our rate lowered to whatever offer they have going at the time tho.

  • The more and more I talk to them the more my head is about to explode. I called AT&T. The fastest we can get with the Is 3.0. Does anyone know how fast that is. DH plays some game on playstation will that be fast enough. I'm currently going on 3 hours plus two calls waiting for a supervisor to call me back.

We have their fastest package and DH plays WoW, we stream movies, and I surf the internet with no problems.

It appears to be just that 1 tv.  Unfortunately, I don't have a single day off in the next few weeks to even have a technician come out to check it.  I think it will be on the honey do list for DH when he gets home from work.

  • We have ATT (non-Uverse) in an apt. in Midtown.  It is awful.  We have the wireless set up and it constantly goes in and out - I have never had the actual service problems like we've had with them and are looking to change it - but not sure that there are many options out there!  We have directv and get internet through them, but I think it's just AT&T under a different name
