Anyone have a good fresh green bean recipe?
My green beans rocked this year, so I need some new ideas. Usually I cook them up and throw on some Mrs. Dash herb seasoning, but I'm looking for something a little more interesting. TIA!
Re: Anyone have a good fresh green bean recipe?
I've just been steaming them with real butter and kosher salt! So good!!!
Did you look on PW's site? or TastyKitchen.com? You can search by ingrediants and just put in green beans...I think she has a bacon wrapped green bean recipe out there that sounded yummy!
This is our favorite way of having them too! We have also cooked them with just onion, butter and a little bit of bacon. Super yummy!!
Here's the bacon wrapped one, and another that sounds good below!
We make a Lebanese/Syrian food side dish with green beans that goes over rice and is super yummy!!! We made it this weekend for my sisters wedding rehersal and its pretty simple. A couple cans of tomato paste/water seasoned with basil, salt, pepper. Boil until not to runny, not too thick
Add green beans and we make it with lamb meat (which is usually cooked in the pan prior to adding the tomato paste/water to make sort of a stew) but you could do beef, ground or like cubed stew meat. We cook it for several hours and then serve it over rice. It's similar to this recipe, but we don't season the meat the same way:

Eat your Vegetables - Green Bean Salad
Ingredients
Directions
Steam green beans in 1/2 inch boiling water covered for 3 or 4 minutes. Cold shock beans by running under cold water and drain well. Place beans in a bowl and combine with onions, cucumber and tomato. Dress salad with a generous drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and the juice of 1/2 lemon. Season salad with coarse salt and pepper, to taste.
*** Note: Instead of the english cucumber I use a yellow bell pepper, adds great flavor and color.
Yum! I love fresh green beans!
My favorite way to fix them is to fry a little bacon and onion together set aside and drain the grease. Put the green beans (already steamed) in the same pan you fried the bacon/onion with a little olive oil and vinegar. Get all the ingredients hot and enjoy- so good!!!
