Is this ultra tacky?

I am quitting my job this month to SAH.  However, my end date is a little up in the air.  We have temprary daycare through July 22nd, and possibly through the 29th.  I would LIKE to have my last day be the 29th, just to have the whole month to wrap things up and make for an even payckeck.  However, since that last week is up in the air with daycare, and we likely won't know anything for sure for at least another week, i'm not sure what to do.

Would it be super tacky of me to give my notice tomorrow for the 22nd and then say i can maybe stay through the 29th?  That way i'm giving my 2 weeks, and possibly 3.

I know they will let me work my 2 weeks, we are currently short staffed, this is a small office environemnt (15 people) where i have worked for 8 years, and i am leaving on good terms.

  • When will you know about the daycare situation?

I've give your two week notice, expecting your last day to be July 22.  If things change a week or so from now, you can offer to stay longer.  I'd expect the last day to be July 22, though.

No it wouldn't be tacky . . . just the opposite.

Give the 2 weeks notice for the 22nd but advise whoever you inform that if you can work out the day care issues you would be happy to stay until the 29th for their convenience.
