I'm sure I've mentioned this nearly a bajillion times before, but my H is turning 30 in September (the 3rd) AND graduating in December (the 19th? I think? The date still hasn't been published).
I wanted to throw a surprise party for his graduation sometime in December or November...but he was talking the other day about how he's thinking he might want to have some kind of get-together for his birthday. Obviously the people he's planning to invite to his bday would be the same list for the ones I'd want to invite to his grad party.
Here are my questions:
Do you think people will be like "oh, another party for Tim? Again?" if we do both? (I'm thinking yes, kind of.)
Do you think I should plan a surprise bday party for him instead? I was thinking about doing something in October/November to combine both, but he'll have already had a bday get together by that point, I imagine.
Also...any ideas of how the eff to plan and pay for a surprise party when you share accounts? I guess I'll have to dust of my credit card...ugh.
Last question: aren't you glad this post ISN'T about my job search? Hahaha
Re: Surprise party?
Do you think people will be like "oh, another party for Tim? Again?" if we do both? (I'm thinking yes, kind of.) I don't think so. One is a casual get together for a BIG birthday. 30 is kinda a big deal. The other is more of a "congrats on graduating!" I would def. go to both parties if it were my friends.

No. I would not because there's no way to prevent him from organizing his own celebration. I really think you should have two different parties. It will be fun!

I think that because september and december are pretty spaced out, it wouldn't be a big deal to do both. I think it would be different if they were in consecutive months.
I know that as a guest, I'd be excited to go to both.
I have the same problem with sharing accouts, so I've got nothing haha..unless you slowly start to put away 20 bucks in cash a week or something like that and then you wont have to do as many "trailed" payments at the end.
I like hearing about your job search! Keep posting
Thanks for your thoughts, girls!
Eskamo, you're totally right - he would've already planned something for his birthday by the time his party rolled around.
I'm glad you both would go to both! Now I just have to find an affordable place that will hold our ridiculously huge family and tons of friends!
I'm sure I'll be asking a lot more questions about this, especially when it comes to choosing a venue and whatnot. I'm definitely going to have to start stockpiling cash pronto!
