Questions about Rathbun's

H and I are going to Rathbun's Restaurant (not the steakhouse) tomorrow for our anniversary. If you've been there, I have a couple of questions for you.

I know that the menu is ever-changing, but are there any standards on the menu that we should be sure and try?

What do people wear to Rathbun's? I feel like people don't dress up very much for restaurants in Atlanta, and I don't want to be really overdressed. But at the same time, it is our anniversary, and I do want to dress up some.

TIA!

Re: Questions about Rathbun's

  • At most restaurants in Atlanta you won't be out of place in nice jeans, heels, and a cute top/sweater.

I live in Atlanta--that's why I asked about Rathbun's in particular. I'd rather not go for jeans and heels for a special night out, but if I will look out of place in a dress then I'll go for jeans.

the website says casual dress, so I guess jeans/cute top is fine. I've never been, but when we go to BLRG type places, I still wear a dress + heels pretty much everytime.

I hate that so many people make EVERYthing a dress-down event. Its like the age of getting dressed up for dinner is dead!

    sad Kat is sad.

Yeah, that's my issue...maybe spending $150 on dinner at Rathbun's is a regular night out for some people, but it's a once-a-year anniversary dinner for me. Dammit if I'm wearing jeans for my anniversary dinner! We went to Ecco for our first anniversary and I looked super out of place in a dress. (The situation may have been exacerbated by the fact that we were there on a Sunday and the restaurant was almost empty.)

yeahhhhhhhhh, that's nearly our dining out budget for the month so youbetcherass I'm breaking out something nicer than jeans for the occasion!!

Let us know how the meal is? My coworkers hit the place up frequesntly and the only thing they ever talk about is the steak. I'm sure they have more to offer there than just beef...

  • Here's a pic of me and my DH on our anniversary outside Rathbuns. We were probably more dressed up than other people but we didn't feel overdressed.

We really enjoyed it. I hope you do to!

  • Busybody, awesome. I am going to wear a dress and heels. Thanks! (I have been hearing great things about Rathbun's for years and am excited to finally eat there!)

  • definitely wear a dress! it's too fun to get dressed up for a nice dinner NOT to do it once in awhile!!
  • I wear dresses most of the time. I would especially wear one for my anniversary dinner. :). I've eaten at Rathbuns' and had great dinner and didn't feel to dressed up in a dress.

I agree that Atlantan's tend to dress things down which stinks. I'm not saying black tie all the way but it is nice to wear nicer clothes some days.

i totally agree with you...but it is nice to know that when, on a whim, i want to go to a "nicer" restaurant, i can still show up casually and not feel out of place!
  • What's funny is I think its the opposite. I think Atlantans tend to be more dressed up. I wonder if its a black/white thing. I think Black Atlantans dress up more when going out to dinner.
