Moms w/ kiddos in daycare

Please talk to me about the transition and how it went for you and your LO. Today's been pretty rough for me and even though Carly started spending time at daycare last week she's still not sleeping well there. 25 minutes is the longest she's napped at one time, usually it's about 10-15 min at at time. So by the time we get home, she's overly tired and fussy and just won't calm down enough to sleep. It's heartbreaking (and exhausting!).

Re: Moms w/ kiddos in daycare

  • JJ was kinda like that for a little while...it was really hit and miss with him. Sometimes, he'd love the bath; others, he was so wound up that he would scream through it. I think most nights, I would just rock him until he calmed down enough to take a bottle and fall asleep...took about two weeks to get him on a regular schedule. He still gets wound up when he transitions from one room to another as he gets older. I know it's hard, but it will get better! Hang in there mama!

  • The first couple weeks I picked Mayella up from day care were horrible. She was in a trance. It was devastating and made me feel awful. Now, she loves day care even more than she loves spending time with me! It does get better, I promise. She still doesn't nap well at day care but that's because she's a brat about sleeping. My sitter told me the other day she thinks she is going to be an ornery kid...God help us.

  • Nate 6 weeks when he started daycare, so he was unpredictable anyway. I think it took at least 2 weeks before he was able to sleep well there. Once he did figure out how to sleep well with all the commotion at daycare, he stopped sleeping well at home because it was too quiet!

    Oh great!
  • P's hit and miss with naps, but overall she said he does pretty well.  I know at first he didn't though, it just takes time for them to adjust to the new surroundings and all that is going on.  It will get better, I promise!!

    Oh great!

We got him a humidifier to help with the daycare congestion and for white noise. It was an excellent investment!
