Okay so I wasn't able to follow the case 100% but I did catch some of it.
For those of you who are in the field of law, why did the prosecution not try Casey for Child Abuse or Neglect? Wouldn't they have been able to get that on top of providing false information to Law Enforcement?
Also I heard that there is a civil suit against Casey that she has already received a subpoena for a deposition, do we know what civil charges are being filed against her and what the max penalty for those are?
Re: CA related Q?
As to your first question, I really don't know. She was charged with child abuse. But I don't know why they didn't go for disposing of a dead body or neglect.
The civil suit is a defamation of character suit with a woman named Zenaida Gonzalez. Civil is for money only though and the amount depends on the damages.
I hope she gets cvili-suited out the yang and ends up making zero profit from this.
Another Q I had yesterday... If she does end up having to apply for a job somewhere, can companies not hire her based on what they know of her, or is that a lawsuit waiting to happen?
Re: Employment, the convictions (even if misdemeanor) are disqualifying depending on the company's hiring policies. Some place like Bob's Bait Shack would not care as much as a corporation or professional business.
Look at what'sherface who banged that high school kid. She was a waitress here locally for a while (possibly still is).
I hope so too! The IRS has a tax lien against her for the 60-something thousand she owes.
Not too sure of the legality of that off the top of my head, but that type of thing is REALLY hard to prove in court anyway.
Which one. :P
Specifically, this winner:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debra_Lafave
I just couldn't remember her name.
Omg, yes. That chick has some mental issues, too.
I was talking to Rob about this the other day... I feel like it is so sad that people who have these urges to do crazy things (kill their children, have sex with minors, etc) can't go to a therapist and talk about these things and resolve these issues BEFORE they act on them. I wish our society was more... Er, less judgmental? And more accepting that sometimes these issues can be helped and prevented, if only we allowed people to admit they have them openly.
Debra still works as a waitress at a little mom and pop restraunt in the Ruskin/Sun City area. (can't think of the name of it off the top of my head)
I remember my mom telling me about a dinner she and my grandparents had there and the entire time the conversation was about Debra b/c her section was right behind theirs.
