Re: what in the what?
This is exactly what I was thinking. A lot of those bump boards get nasty... I stay away from them.
Here is part of it that someone reposted:

Basically it was along the lines that we shouldn't be sending any help to people in Africa and a bunch of ignorant a-holes opinions on that.
The OP essentially said that women in Africa are irresponsible for having so many children when they can't afford to feed them and that the US should stop sending aid to the entire continent because the people over there are just mooching off of us instead of getting jobs and trying to support themselves. She also said that, "as a mother" she can't understand why they would "choose" to "let" their children starve.

My biggest problem with that post was the fact that the OP and others on the board were blaming the women of African countries for things which they have no control over. A person with no knowledge of how to prevent pregnancy/ STDs, no access to contraceptives, and who is routinely raped either by their husband or as a result of war and civil unrest will end up giving birth multiple times whether they want to or not. It's a statistical fact. The women in these countries have no other choice and no other options.
I'm all for holding people accountable for their actions, but these women and children have done nothing wrong. The only difference between them and us is the fact that we were lucky enough to be born in a country whith the freedom and luxury of choice.
Also, I'm not sure why, but a lot of people seem to think that the US gives much more humanitarian aid than we really do. We currently give 1% of our annual budget to foreign aid. You can go HERE and put in how much you paid last year for taxes and see how much of your bill went to humanitarian aid. Mine was a whopping $1.86.
Yes, there are big problems within our country that have left US citizens without access to the resources they need. This isn't a situation in which those resources don't exist, or we as a country can't afford them, it's a situation where the government has created so much red tape that those who truly need help can't figure out how to get it. This is a policy issue, not a fiscal issue. Those suffering in many countries in Africa have no resources, no social programs for assistance except the ones provided by the UN through funds from more developed countries. It IS a fiscal issue there. One that we are in a position to do something about as one of the wealthiest and most industrialized nations in the world.
The OP made me angry because even after she was given information about the reality of the situation in several African countries, she continued to blame the victims and act as though she loves her children more because she can afford to feed them.

This exactly. Well said Panda!
My OB actually goes down to Africa once a year to teach the women there about NFP since they don't have access to birth control. He had a bead system that's really working out for them down there. He really thinks women should be in control of their bodies...I think it's kinda cool what he does.
This is wonderful to hear and very admirable! 1000 points to your OB.
