*Kiz* re: weeds on the patio
If you don't want to weed your patio - spray vinegar on the weeds in the cracks. It kills the weeds. Or pour boiling water on them. Easy solutions that don't require getting down on hand and knees to weed :-)

Re: *Kiz* re: weeds on the patio
I started last night, got about 4 square feet done and said forgetaboutit! I didn't realize vinegar would kill weeds! Is there anything vinegar DOESN'T do??
Awesome! Thanks!! :-)

Too bad it's stanky stuff!!
I do know now though that you shouldn't clean granite with it I guess? Other than though I use it on just about everything! :-)
Yeah, not good for granite or travertine since it's acidic. Only neutral-base cleaners on natural stone.
But, you gotta love a natural, chemical-free solution that cleans your bathroom sink and also kills weeds!

Thanks for the tip, sjb! I love vinegar and use it for all my cleaning. One more use to add to the list. Plus I have tons of weeds to take care of in the yard.
Cinnamon really works for ants too
Thanks for the tip about the weeds! We were going to tackle some this weekend.

I think I'm going to need to go to Costco and get some more vinegar!!
This makes me strangely giddy because I HATE the weeds and I don't want to poison my patio with nasty chemicals because my dogs walk across the patio to get to the yard. And I hate pulling weeds so for now they have just been allowed to grow grow grow!
Here is a recipe I got from Mary Hunt (the Everyday Cheapskate Lady!) This would be great for a patio! I haven't had time to do it myself, but I'm going to spray my driveway cracks with it!
Homemade weed killer. Dissolve 2 cups of salt in 1 gallon of white vinegar, and add 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap. Apply it with a spray bottle. Caution: Repeated use will sterilize the soil such that eventually nothing will grow. Ideal for driveways, paths and walkways.
It's been 3 days and nothing has happened. How long does the vinegar take? We did have that heavy rain on Sunday...could that have washed it away? I sprayed on Saturday afternoon with a squirt bottle that has a thin sharp spray and aimed right near where the weed was coming out of the patio.
I think I'll have to try Meesa's recipe. I just do NOT want to spray Round Up where my puppies walk. And I'd rather not pull every. single. weed. There are LOTS of them.
