Romantic Sarasota/Bradenton resturants?

I am traveling to visit my dad in a few weeks and that means we have a babysitter for our then 3 month old.

It will be my husbands 30th birthday while visiting and I would like to take him to a really nice dinner somewhere that is: romantic, preferably ocean view, seafood or steak place We can travel to either Sarasota or Bradenton -- any recommendations?

Re: Romantic Sarasota/Bradenton resturants?

  • Hi!

If you are going to Sarasota, siesta key, there is a good romantic resturant Stonewood Grill

There are other alternatives as said here Siesta Key, Florida

    Best!

    Uyamigo ;)

  • Ophelia's on Siesta Key!

Or I like Libby's or Pacific Rim in the village in Sarasota.

Personally, I think you can go to Stonewood in Anywhere, America.  Nothing special there.

There is currently a Groupon for Ophelias on the Bay in Sarasota, there are 2 days, 12 hours left, and it expires 11/11/11.  $15 for $30 Worth of Seafood and Fusion Fare.

  • I'll recommend Mattison's Riverside. The Riverside is important because they have two locations. Riverside is on the Manatee River in Bradenton and it's beautiful! It's where we had our rehearsal dinner and where we have our anniversary dinner every year. And just across the bridge is Riverhouse Reef and Grill in Palmetto. It's a little more casual but it's also a beautiful restaurant. Sit outside for a little bit more romance.

Oh, and both of these are on the River but right where it opens up to the Bay.

  • We love Riverhouse Reef and Grill, it's right on the Manatee River, and Gulf Drive Cafe, on Anna Maria

I don't know that either are really necessarily romantic, but definately fun and cool.

  • I highly recommend Miguel's on Siesta Key. They have 4 star cuisine with reasonable prices. All steaks are prime and they have table side service which a lot of places do not have (even 5 star).

They actually make their Caesar salad from scratch table side (I have gone in there for just a glass of wine and a salad it is so yummy)...carve a Chateaubriand table side...or Dover sole more your style? They de-bone it table side.  Not everything is done table side obviously but the service is astounding. Even several desserts are done table side. You can even call a day or two ahead and they will make a baked Alaska just for you.

Their wine selection is also great. My husband and I have been going for years and it is always our special night out restaurant. It also happens that an acquaintance owns the place and his brother is the executive chef BUT not a single person I have referred there has been disappointed. You do not need a reservation but I recommend one if you decide to go.

We tend to take a stroll on the beach afterward or we go over to Captain Kurts for karaoke or to the Captain Kurts tiki bar for a tropical drink.

No matter where you go just avoid chains...even if a chain is not part of your demographic area it is still a chain!

     Good luck and happy eating!
