I don't understand the "struggle" people claim to have when it comes to homosexuality. Why does it have to be a struggle? How the hell does it affect anyone not gay? And therefore, why do people who aren't gay have any right in deciding if being gay is right or wrong?

Some people who are highly religious (specifically certain conservative Christian sects) believe it's wrong to be gay.
I personally could give a schit who you live with, have sex with or marry. It has absolutely nothing to do with me.
i figured so much.
really though, no matter what my opinion is on the issue of gay, it's unimportant in my life. someone being gay and wanting legal rights to another person has no bearing on my life, and it's not fair at all that people who are "struggling" with this issue get to decide for other people what is right or not for them.

Yes, ditto. It's not something I'm proud of, but I understand completely.
Loveshine, you don't have to be "highly conservative" or part of a special Christian sect to think that being gay is wrong. My parents are Baptists who go to a pretty progressive church, but they think being gay is wrong.
Anyways, I don't get it either. But my parents are regular church-going Christians and their belief is that they need to witness and be a model Christian. If you are gay, my parents won't hate your or be rude in anyway, but they believe that they need to let you know that your lifestyle is wrong but Jesus loves you and that you can go to heaven by changing. Sounds farked up, and it is, but it is what it is. For the record though, they do no do this to total strangers. I don't think I"ve ever even heard them say something to someone who is gay, this is just what they've said to me in talking to me about homosexuality.
I was just reading some of the responses, and that ZoeGirlTX really pissed me off. She said that she thinks there is some link between children being abused and being gay.
Haven't there been studies showing that this is not the case?

that's another thing that annoys me, there are studies on this as if it is a cancer or something that needs to be figured out and cured.

We started debating this at work in July. It got really, really heated. We shouldn't have talked about this at work, bad idea.
Anyway, one of my coworkers goes to this non-demoninational mega church. He said that he believes it's ok to be gay, but you aren't allowed to act on it. Otherwise, you'll burn in hell. So then I shot back at him, "so you're just to pretend you're someone you're not?!" Yeah, it was bad.
Ugh they really should study stupid people, I agree.
Besides that, I really feel that people like her make up information as they see fit in order to justify their ignorant beliefs.
One of my favorites, "The Bible says it's wrong". Oh really? Do you believe every word of the bible and take it as law? Do you believe that a man who is 900 years old built an ark and took every species 2 by 2 and let them procreate on said ark during a great flood?
I think Christians need to shut the hell up about homosexuality. Concentrate on themselves. Let the perfect person *** about sin. Oh wait, YOU'RE not the perfect person, right?
God doesn't rank sin. He hates them all and wishes you wouldn't do any of them. It annoys me that homosexuality is somehow ranked as "worse" than murder or adultery or moneylenders (yeah, remember those?), b/c Christians only seem to focus on "gay" in my observation. Go bother some child molestors, would you?
I happen to believe that god doesn't find homosexuality a sin. I believe that god created humans and that sexuality is biological, not by choice. I've seen too many people attempt to "choose" being straight. It ends badly for everyone involved.
I believe this b/c I believe the bible (god's word, infallible) was written by man, who is fallible and has an agenda. Also, all of the "sin" laws re: homosexuality I've found, were in the Old Testament, not the New. The Old was to be thrown out with the New, in my understanding. None of it is for me to judge or even care about, b/c of my own failings.
None of it is for my state to care about either, except to insure that equal rights are being given to all citizens.
