Best Mexican Restaurant in the Baltimore Area?

I think DH and I are going to dinner tomorrow night and I want Mexican (he loves Mexican too!). Any favorites in the Baltimore area?

  • El Salto.  It's a little rinky dink place over in Parkville and from the outside, you'd never expect it to be so yummy!  Prices are really good too (although most authentic Mexican places I find are!).

It's on Waltham Woods Road in zip 21234...sort of right off the beltway at Perring Parkway.  Same shopping center as the MVA express.

Their fajitas are to die for and their red beans and rice is awesome!

  • If they're crowded, there's a taco bell up the street. Stick out tongue

  • El Salto is very tasty!
  • I loved blue agave in federal hill when I went. It's been awhile but it was awesome and they had the best margaritas I have ever had!

I went here for my first time last month and it was amazing! Plus, there's always restaurant.com certificates online for it.

  • DH and I were just talking about Mexican restaurants a few days ago. My parents live near Toledo, OH and have a TON of authentic little Mexican restaurants near them and we can't seem to find any near here! Is El Salto a chain? I brought that up and he seemed to think it was.
  • I think Blue Agave is the best Mexican food that I've had in Baltimore BUT it's pretty authentic - its similar to the food you might find in Mexico City for example.  They have fajitas and stuff but if you want more typical Tex-Mex its probably not for you.

Miguel's in Silo Point downtown is more Tex-Mex than Blue Agave but pretty hip and trendy in terms of the dishes offered - its slightly cheaper than Blue Agave and is my second favorite after BA.

  • Arco's in "upper" Fell's Point has great food for pretty cheap and the atmosphere is awesome, especially in the summer... they have this little courtyard out back.

  • Blue Agave was my first thought after seeing the title of this post.
  • We had groupons to Blue Agave and loved it!

  • Another vote for El Salto! It's one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and now that I'm writing about it, I'm actually starting to get a craving. Mmm.....

  • In the city we only go to Holy Frijoles in Hampden. Best salsa EVER. No kidding, I eat 2 bowls at least by myself while waiting for our food.

I am pretty sure that Miguel's is owned by the people who originally opened Blue Agave. They sold Blue Agave and opened RUB (Not sure what order that actually happened in).

Yup, Miguels has the same owners as the original owners of BA. They opened Rub prior to selling Blue Agave IIRC and then sold BA and opened Miguels.
