I was just reading an interesting blog? On Yahoo's Shine about bank accounts and married couples. How it is hard now if you have one account but 2 debit cards.
So my question is do you have 1 shared account, both have your own seperate accounts, 2 seperate and 1 joint?
Re: QOTD
This. The joint account is for house/joint expenses. Separate accounts are for gas money, fun money, etc. We also only have our debit cards attached to our separate accounts so we don't have to worry about what the other is spending when using them.
I have an account and at my bank we have a joint account. MFD has an account at another bank too but puts the majority of his money into our joint account and uses it for everything. I only put money into our joint for bills and household expenses but use my account for spending.
we have a joint account with two different cards for most everything--bills, vacations, groceries, etc. we also each have our own accounts which are for fun stuff like the dresses i am buying this weekend, or races that i sign up for.
often our fun accounts that are separate are empty, so we pull from our joint account after talking to each other first.

We each have our own account and one joint for the bills. At the beginninig of the month we'll each put half of the monthly bills into the joint.
Last week I got mad at Richard. He is very frugal with his money but he has cash in his account. I asked him how much money he had. He hesistated. I told him that I didn't even want to know. That is his account so he didn't have to tell me. He was going to tell me but I didn't want to hear it. I was pissed because as his wife I think he should tell me, right? He knows how much I have in my account (which is not much). I'm always upfront with him about everything. It's not like I want any of his money. His money is his money to do with as he pleases. End vent.
This might be the BEST account EVER!!!
