Since so many of us are avoiding things today ... wanna help me get some freakin' style?!?
I want some cute new outfits to wear to my goodbye lunch Tuesday and happy hour Thursday. All my colleagues have seen me in for the past 7 years is black pants and a sweater set. This "uniform" very much symbolizes the monotony of my job.
I want something cute and colorful, "office casual" so I could wear it meeting coaching clients, too. Fun but put-together. Probably a dress or skirt with a light jacket/sweater option. And it can't be online shopping since I need to shop this weekend. I'm in Herndon so I have lots of mall and strip mall options.
I'm a size 12/14, so bonus points for clothes with decent fabric that actually look good on non-skinny people.
Should you choose to acceot this challenge, I thank you!
Re: Find outfit for me too?
I wish I didn't have kid duty tomorrow because I would love to go shopping with you (I need a dress for a wedding next week).
I'd suggest hitting Marshalls' and/or Filene's first because they always have a ton of cute printed dresses. Also, White House/Black Market - my coworker keeps popping up with the cutest dresses and skirts from there. I really like this, though it's a little pricey and I'd have to see the horizontal stripes on. Or this with an aqua cardigan. Then, BR, Ann Taylor Loft, etc. But their styles have been so boring (IMO) lately.

I have no style though, so take it for what it's worth. lol.
I know this store sounds old lady like - but I love Talbots. Whatever way they cut their clothes, they fit me so well. Especially their dresses. I'm a size 8/10 with a larger bust and I find them so flattering. A lot of the ones I liked best are catalog/online only but I also like these that you can find in store. This has been an off year for dresses, the hemlines have just been too short for work at places like Banana and Loft where I usually find a lot I like.
I love this one, but it's not in stores:
And from Ann Taylor, my other go to place for dresses...
And Ann Taylor Loft
And this one which won't link: http://www.loft.com/loft/product/LOFT-Apparel/LOFT-Dresses/Printed-Scoop-Tank-Dress-by-Lela-Rose/259998?colorExplode=false&skuId=89712122&catid=catl000013&productPageType=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor=8867
Oooh, liking what I see so far! Thank you all!
I especially love the look of that stripe dress, E, and all the reviews said it was "slimming." Nice.
Talbot's really does have a lot, too - I've never shopped there so I had no idea.
Well, I have 2-3 stores to go looking in now - a great start. Thanks so far!
P.S. - Agree about the blandness of ATL. Went there Monday and was out in less than 10 minutes. The only (few) colorful dresses they have are like this jersey material, which I do not find flab-flattering.
I'll be needing more new career clothes in the next weeks/months, so if you ever need a shopping buddy in the future, call me anytime! My availability is wide-open July 15th and on.
How could I forget Talbots?!?!
You should try their outlet store. It's in Springfield, just off the Beltway. Kind of near Mike's.
when you have time to wait for someone from "the online" i highly recommend boden. i've loved everything i've ordered there.
I jsut tried this dress on yesterday and giong back this weekend to buy it (I had my gifft card at home)
