Les Mis ramblings

I'm just looking at the site for the 25th anniversary concert and am struck by a few things I feel like telling someone who might actually listen.

1. Nick Jonas (not Joe, thanks ringy) has done a bunch of broadway.  This does not strike me as so.  Though it looks like maybe it was when he was a lot younger, as he played Gavroche before.

2. Thenardier was played by the guy that played Tweedledee and Tweedledum in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.  I thought I'd recognized him from somewhere.

3. Enjolras is from Toronto! (well, Richmond Hill, but originally Peterborough, weird)

I know him more from Little Britain. Matt Lucas is funny as hell!

I liked the 25th anniversary special, though I totally agree with your earlier statement about Colm Wilkinson being definitive. I was SO not digging the Jonas.

  • Do you guys have a favorite character (besides Jean Valjean, of course!)?

I like so many of them...I guess if I had to pick, it would be the Thenardiers or Eponine. (Although back in middle school and high school French classes, I always chose my "French name" to be Cosette, ha.)

Eponine, for sure.  The Thenardiers are entertaining, but not my fav's.

Derek's a big fan of Jalvert.

  • I was always a Fantine fan - I'm an alto, so her number was the only one that was comfortably in my range.

The NPH/Jason Segel version of Valjean/Javert's Confrontation song is one of my favourite clips ever.

Oh dear Lord, I didn't think it was possible to love Neil Patrick Harris more, but I do.

Ah yes, we've seen that before.  Pure gold.
