Sans grill?
I'm craving steak. I, however, do not know how to make steak. What's the best way to cook it? We don't have a grill. I do have a George Foreman, but I don't think that'd do it justice. What are the best cuts?

You're right, a steak cooked off the grill just isn't the same. But, I think a Foremen is your next best bet. However, don't close the lid, it'll squeeze the juice out of it. Also, cook it over a medium temperature so it doesn't make the steak tough.
My favorite cut is the filet, but obviously can that can pricey. My second favorite (and more affordable) cut is a ribeye. It has fat marbled throughout, but that's what makes it taste so yummy. And they're pretty tender if cooked correctly.
And a yummy, easy marinade? Teriyaki (sp??) sauce with a bit of garlic.
I agree with Amanda. I would do the Foreman if you can't grill it on a real grill.
My favorite cut is also the filet. A cheaper option that I like is the New York Strip. You can get thin cuts here fairly cheap ($6/lb).

I have a cast iron grill pan, I love it even more than using a grill, you get great flavor and it's easier for me to control the temperature of the steak.
I prefer a strip steak to a ribeye especially this time of year, it is really fatty during the summer.
If you going to get a better cut of meat there's really no need for much seasoning beyond salt, pepper and maybe some garlic powder.

At least you don't use ketchup. On a filet.
And yes, I really have witnessed that before.
For the record: for GOOD steak, I do not use ketchup.
I don't eat steak very often but when I do I love a good cut, I'm really lucky at work because I can get stuff for just a little above cost or half off if it's sort dated and we have extra stock. I picked up a case of strips, some of the best ones you can get, we have a meat cutting room here and these were amazing, it should be a 13 dollar pound at a grocery store steak if not more and he just A1 on them.
I could ring his neck, but this is also the man that wanted me to make homemade mac n cheese with American cheese... /sigh

Go out. Hah. I am not good at cooking steak. I always worry it's not done enough and overcook it. But my "how to cook everything" book says to sear it over a high heat then finish in the oven til done to your liking.
If you grill, get a grill thermometer. Then, ask the butcher/supplier how long to cook it on each side and at what temperature for however you like it. This has never failed us and I like mine medium while DH likes medium well.
