Can your recommend a Dog Boarding place?

We need to board (is that the right form of board?) our dog next weekend, I was wondering if anyone can recommend the place they use. We're in Canton and will be heading to NY through Windsor border crossing.

Thanks ladies!

Re: Can your recommend a Dog Boarding place?

  • We take our cat to the PetSmart Pet Hotel on Telegraph in Southfield.  She's been there twice and we've had a great experience each time.  I've also had a friend who took her dog to that location as well and had a good experience.
  • We only had to use it once, but we took our dog here on our wedding day:

My in-laws use them regularly and love them.

This! It's right down the street from my house. All my neighbors use it all the time!

  • My vet does it, I really like it there.  Vet Select Animal Hospital in Novi (just north of 12 Oaks)

  • Ditto 4 Legged friends in Livonia. we take seamus to daycare every week.
  • awesome! thank you so much ladies!!!

We loved Pet Smart back home, but there doesn't seem to be one that's 'on our way' back to NY.  All we had to say to our dog was 'want to go to the hotel?' and he'd run out to the car- he loved it there.

  • We also LOVE 4 Legged Friends in Livonia!  I know the owners fairly well- Craig used to be a kennel attendant at the vet hospital I work at before 4LF became as big as it is).  Our dog, Hank, hasn't been there recently but if I ever have to board him, that's where he goes.  Plus, he goes there even though I can board him for free at the place I work.

  • We LOVE Halliday's in Canton. Our dog, who tends to be scared/submissive, LOVES this place. The staff remembers our pup by name, and we even saw them at a dog event at Heritage Park and they STILL remembered her by name. The facilities were clean, and they opened a new waterpark for the dogs in the back. I won't trust my dog with anyone else.

Give them a call and ask if you can come by and check out the facility.

  • I actually live west of Canton, but I use Canine College in Farmington Hills on a regular basis for doggy daycare and boarding.  The thing I love about CC is that, unlike a lot of the places around here I've checked, day care is included in boarding. Many places keep them cooped up for the day and only take them out a few times. I would make sure to ask about that. At CC they play from basically 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and then go into their room for the night and are soooo exhausted that I feel much less guilty about boarding him.

This too!  It's very close to you, and you'll drive right by me to get there :)  We also use a sitter in home, but I've heard lots of raves about this place including our Realtor.  She lives in Plymouth and takes her dogs there.
