I wore one of my new dresses to work today. I figured, it's an important day, it seems appropriate. Plus it's new and it's always fun to wear new clothes.
Well here's part of the reason I don't like wearing dresses. Everyone acts like it's a BIG DEAL. I got so many comments, like "look at you all dressed up" and "what are YOU doing in a dress" and etc etc.
I've worn skirts to work before, so it's not like this is way out there. And all the other women seem to be able to wear dresses without people commenting about it. What the heck. Why can't you people just leave me alone?
And this is why I feel self conscious putting on a dress and am therefore far less likely to do it.
ETA: Here's a pic. Poor quality, sorry.

Re: dresses (again) *Updated with PIP*
Once people see you in a dress more than once or twice, they'll get over it.
I wore a dress on a Friday once & you would've thought it was the biggest.deal.ever (& we don't really have "Casual Fridays" either).
Creepster!
I have a CW who makes a comment on my green scarf every.single.time I wear it. Always.
This would irritate me.
Whenever I wear flats (which is hardly ever), I get at least one "I didn't realize you were so short!!" comment
ha! who knows, maybe it was me. There were cameras and media everywhere. You literally had to step over them to get anywhere. I made it into this picture, which I posted before I even noticed it: http://twitpic.com/5mzbl9 (far right)
