Hi All,
I wasn't sure where to post this but I am looking for a great gift idea for a friend who is pregnant with her second baby boy. Her son is almost two years old, his 2nd birthday is about two weeks from her due date. I'd like the gift to possibly be for both baby and big brother. I don't want to get clothes since she probably can use all the clothes from baby number one. For example, a double stroller or a bench personalized with both names for the play room! Or even maybe a wagon?
My friend is due at the end of August so as soon as he arrives I would like to get the item to give to them at the hospital. I'd love to hear all of you suggestions and recommendations! What do you think would be a great gift to give? Any other moms of two boys within 2 years apart have any awesome ideas? Also what does a mom or parents of two boys need? Thanks!!!
Re: Gift for Friend who is having 2nd Baby Boy
My boys will be farther apart in age, but I personally would appreciate a friend getting my older son something just for him - something to help make him feel special and keep him entertained while I'm busy with the baby.
Not sure if you are crafty, but I crochet blankets for every new baby in the family or close friends. There is something about a "blankey" to every kid and it is their very own.
If you are not a crocheter, you can buy some fleece and make tie blankets for both boys. The older one will like a gift since he may have a hard time adjusting to a baby brother.
I'm having a second boy soon and they are born in the same season...three years a part...so the one thing I don't really need is clothes.Which is great!
But some other things have broken.....like a baby monitor. Even our high chair is quite worn-out.
And a double stroller is a good idea!
I'm still going to be able to use my baby car seat.
Practical things like: diapers, pacifiers, some new bottles, a new changing pad!, even some formula or things for breastfeeding. And of course, gift cards are always a nice present.
For me, it has mostly been clothes and toys that I don't really need.
If you want both boys to have gifts, you don't have to give one gift. You can give two gifts that are completely separate.
For the older boy, maybe an "I'm the big brother" t-shirt. It makes kids feel important. Or a personalized stool for the sink (to wash hands, etc.) since he is getting to be old enough for that.
For the baby, find out if there is anything that she needs that she didn't have the first time. Or give her a gift card so she can get what she wants - even if it's diapers and formula from babies r us.
I have to say, the wagon is a GREAT idea! We used the Radio Flyer wagon with the top ALL THE TIME! Of course, the little guy is too small, right now, but it will come in handy for both of them in less than a year!
