It's Google's attempt to take on Facebook, ie it's a social networking site. Currrently very exclusive as you have to get invited by someone to get access!

I just got on it a few days ago. I haven't yet figured out how to invite people. I see it imported a list of my contacts from which I can added friends to my "circles" but it's not clear whether adding them to the circles also generates an invitation.

Anyone know how to invite?

I have it as well, I just don't understand it. But it took me ages to understand FB, too... I think I'm resistant to change.
