Ouch ouch ouch

Going over 12 hours without pumping is not the smarting decision I've ever made........but the extra sleep I got from skipping my last pumping session makes me feel so refreshed!!

Question to you pumping/b-feeding gals.  What is the longest you've been able to go between sessions w/out it making your supply dive?  I'm hoping this doesn't affect me too bad.

Re: Ouch ouch ouch

  • Ouch lady! So I'm in a weird situation because Carly only nurses off one side at each feeding. And now we've added one bottle of formula a day. My boobs are so confused! I've had to pump one side a few times beause I was so engorged but I think they are now getting used to the new routine. I have no idea what skipping the MOTN pumping will do to your supply but skip it if you can. Sleep is good!
  • lol...I'm sorry Pam, I just had to giggle at the "my boobs are so confused!".  I hope it gets better for you too.  How is pumping at work?

I've actually skipped the MOTN session for a long time, ever since P started sleeping through the night and my boobs do ok with that.  Last night I was laying in bed and needed to do my "right before bed pump" but decided to continue sleeping instead.  Honestly, I don't always get a ton then anyways.  If I wasn't in such pain this morning, I'd consider doing it all of the time, but it was not fun to wake up to.

  • Will still doesn't STTN. : (  However, I have been gradually increasing the time between pumping/nursing sessions.  So far it hasn't been painful, but I can tell that I am starting to feel less full.

  • Ouch! That is an awful pain! I've gone 11.5 hours because that's how long she actually slept one night. I thought my boobs were going to explode by the time she woke up, so I pumped one side while she nursed the other. I've never gotten so much milk from pumping as I did that morning. Anyhow, to answer your question, it didn't affect my supply at all.... And that was back when she still usually nursed once in the night. I think the longest we've gone during the day is 4 hours. She usually nurses every 1.5-2 hours during the day... still, although this past week she's been spacing them out a little more. Whenever I get worried that I might be losing supply, I drink tons of water!!! I've never had am issue. ::knock on wood::
