Where did you stay? Did you like it? Prices reasonable?
Jason's sister is turning 21 in March and she mentioned being interested in gambling for her birthday. We've got gaming here locally, but I thought it would be awesome to take here there.
Thoughts?

Re: Who's been to Vegas?
I've been there a lot. I have stayed at a few of the low end hotels on the strip, ones off the strip, and some of the nice hotels on the strip. I will tell you about the ones on the strip.
Treasure Island is really nice. They upgraded their rooms a few years back and they are rally nice now w/flat screen tvs and iPod docks. The price was reasonable the time we stayed there. This one is centrally located on the strip.
I stayed at the Luxor a few times. I stayed in the suite once and it was decent. The regular rooms are OK although nothing special at all. This one is on one end of the strip so you can start there and walk all the way down and back.
I've also stayed at the Monte Carlo. It's nice in there. I can't really remember the rooms but I know it was nicer than the Luxor.
Circus Circus is run down too and at the far end of the strip. I say that because we drive in from CA and the Luxor is the first hotel on the strip so I always think of that as the beginning.
Bellagio - NICE. Center strip location. Gorgeous water show!!
Stay away from the Stratosphere. It's far from the main strip and run down.
Imperial Palace was run down but I think they may have done a renovation on it since I stayed there 2 years ago.
Harrah's is run down.
Sahara is at the far end and a long walk from the main strip. Run down. It may be closed now.
Hmm, I am not sure if that is all but out of those I recommend Treasure Island or Bellagio.
Other ones that I have not stayed at that look really nice are: Paris, MGM Grande, Mandalay Bay, Aria, The Palms (off strip), Venetian, Wyn, and Encore, The skyline is changing there every week so there's so many new hotels and and old ones torn down that I don't even know which ones are still around except for the main one's everyone knows about.
The prices vary. There's a lot factored into the cost. If there's a big fight that weekend (boxing or UFC) then the hotel rates skyrocket and you can't even get a crappy room for cheap. If you go during the week the rates are much lower than weekends. There's really no telling with the prices on any given week or hotel. You just have to research and watch. Also, sign up on the hotel's website and get discounted rooms.
Living so close to Vegas means most kids dream about spending their 21st birthday in Vegas so I think it's a good place to go for her.
If you go during the summer months prepare to boil. It gets insanely hot...triple digits with the sun beating down on you (I live in a desert too so I am acclimted to it) but for people that aren't just be careful. It's a very strong piercing heat that pounds on you. If you go during the winter it gets really cold (well, cold to us) so don't expect it to be warm all day. Temps fall below freezing at night during the winter months. Just be prepared for anything I guess! It snowed there this last winter.

I loved Mandalay Bay. I was less than blown away by Treasure Island (TI now, I guess). It wasn't bad, but I had Mandalay Bay to compare to.
I've also stayed in the old part of Vegas (Fremont Street) which is SUPER cheap (like $30/night cheap) and SUPER fun. Cheap gambling, down to earth people and old school Vegas feel. BUT - no clubs, etc and it's really old school. We stayed two nights downtown and two nights on the strip. If you've never been to Vegas, don't stay downtown (although it's worth a visit for the covered Fremont St experience). Stay on the strip and there are a lot of reasonable hotels.
For our next trip we'll either stay at The Venetian or Paris, I think. I don't want to stay at the same hotel twice because there are so many to choose from!

If you decide to go to a club,l especially a popular one, make sure you get there early. The lines can be crazy long. Also, walk around in the casinos (just girls) and you will get free passes to the clubs!
Shows, I have only been to one big one. Holly Madison's Strip Tease. It was interesting.....Actually it was pretty cool if you can get past the topless part. Try and get tickets at the kiosks that are all over the strip. They have 1/2 off deals and such.
We went to a small hypnotist show and it was great. Don't overlook the small shows because they aren't the headlining kind.
