Let me tell you why I love summer: there's plenty of time for crafts that I don't get to do during the school year. I love crafting and decorating, but I feel like teaching and driving to work take up so much time that I don't even want to think when I get home during the school year. Therefore, my craftiness suffers. I'm going to make a conscious effort to do better with this during this school year, and maybe being a second year teacher will help since I won't have as much to plan (hopefully).
I've wanted to get in to making jewelry for a while now, but just didn't know where to start. Well, I found a tutorial for leather and bead bracelets, and it looked easy enough. Since they're really "in" right now, finding the materials was super easy. And making the bracelet was just as easy once I got the hang of it!
Here's what I ended up with:
Man, sorry those are so huge; I don't know how to resize in Google Chrome to save my life.
Needless to say, I think I've found a new hobby! Does anybody else make jewelry on here? Any tips for a beginner?
Re: Look what I made!
Cool crafting! I totally understand the lack of time during the school year - that's what makes the summer holidays even more sweet!
I hate to burst a bubble, but as a 'veteran' teacher (11 years in!!) the planning certainly doesn't lessen after the first year...in fact, it usually increases as you start to reflect and revise the previous lessons/activities/assessment tasks. But, the fun part is, that the 'research' portion is a bit easier as you know your subject area and the curriculum now! I pretty much had no life for the first 5 years...and part of that was a result of teaching new subjects (high school).
What am I saying, I still have no life during the school week! lol
Don't fret, it does get better...and keep doing the hobbies that you enjoy to maintain a healthy balance (and your sanity!!)
I really want to get into scrapbooking...but so far that hasn't happened. So I am enjoying my first love - reading for fun! lol
