Do you have any nicknames? Feel free to list any and relay any stories of how you got the moniker.
*sidenote* - I just wondered, anyone know the origin of the phrase "nickname"? I'm sure I could google it but maybe someone here knows.
Re: QOTD - 7.8.2011
My aunt has called me Lulu since I was a baby.
Some friends I went to elementary with heard her call me that, and added "Pepsi" to the end because my dad worked for Pepsi. So I was called "Lulu Pepsi" in school.
An ex-boyfriend's sister called me "K-Pax."
A guy I am friends with through friends at work calls me "Ms. Lohan." (The only reason he calls me that is because we share the same first name, not because I am a pathelogical liar, a drunk and/or druggie.
)
A few people call me Lindsay Lou.
That's all I can think of right now. Seems like a lot though.
I've had the basics for my name (although Juli is technically a nickname I suppose, shortened Julianne): Jules, J, JJ (now JD).
One of my tennis coaches would call me Double J and one of my BFF's growing up nicknamed me Ju Ju Drops. She'll still occassionally call me by that.
And a lot of our friends refer to Andy and I as Jandy.
I have a lot, I suppose. My parents are crazy with nick naming people.
From my dad: Reener (now that I am PG, he has come up with more like preg-nut, pregnatto.)
From my mom: Missy and/or Missy couture
H: Skillet or Maynard
my cousins: Steffers
Senior year of high school people called me Boston. So much so a few teachers even called me it. I had just moved to Mi from Boston and I had a wicked accent.
One of my coworkers calls me G. That's kind of a long story.
My husband sometimes calls me Special K.
How about Posh Spice or Pink? ;-)
Thankfully, those haven't stuck.
The most used Nickname now of mine is "Baby Shark". One of my best friends and her husband call me that....and only call me that. If she calls me by my first name, I am like ""What??". Her mom does not know who she is talking about unless she says Baby Shark.:) LOL
About 6ish years ago we were out having a drink and we got to talking about camp songs (of all things)...so I busted out in "Baby Shark! Do do...do do do do"
It is a very annoyingly catchy song and BFF's DH could not stop singing it for days. So he started calling me Baby Shark and it stuck.
My dad called me Tiffy growing up. Sometimes Tiff-La-Biff.
My nieces and nephews call me Tippy. Sometimes Tipsy.
In high school, my brother was called by our last name so i was Lil' last name.
At LV, they referred to me as Dolly. Like the cloned sheep. At first I didn't know how to take that but they explained that it was a compliment as they wished they could create more of me. Awww, gee thanks.
Don't speak too soon!!
Family nickname is Dede which is still used and is what SS calls me as well. I always used it until I got a job and then went by my given name. DH always calls me by my given name I don't think he has a nick/pet name for me.
Deeder got started somehow at Art Van and has stuck with the people who know me from there.
D to the Drah is what a couple of the girls at MI Blood have nicknamed me as.
Um...Katers
Kate, obv. A way long time ago my dad called me Katinka. My sisters sometimes call me Jake. There's a story behind that (my three sisters and I all had "boy" NNs at one point... Hank, Jake, Stanley, George) that dates back to college.
My Clean Eating Blog
Green Living Reading List
I've been called Danni my whole life. My mom also calls me Elizabeth or Liz which is my MN.
In college a typing error on AIM between 2 friends led to me being called Danno.
H usually calls me Danni. In cards or stuff he'll call me sweetheart or darling, but not usually in person.
My Profile
Bethany - by my husband
Heineken - by friends from high school; it's a variation on my maiden name
Other than that, it's kind of hard to shorten "Beth"
