How to deal with on the spot job offers?

Not to get ahead of myself, but I currently have 3 interviews set for this week.  There is a chance that I could get offers at the interviews.  I would like to go through all 3 interviews to see what my potential options are.  However, I don't want to lose out on anything by stalling on a potential offer.  Any suggestions on how to word that I would like a couple of days (ie until the end of the week) to decide?

  • There's nothing wrong with asking the HR manager for a couple of days to consider the offers.  If they really want you they will give you that time.  Good luck!
  • You could ask them to put their offer in words, like an offer letter. That can usually get you about two days though.

  • Does it matter at all that I won't be dealing with an HR manager? Two of the places are very small law firms and the third is slightly larger, but definitely still on the small side. Do I mention that I have other interviews?
  • I don't think it matters who you'll be dealing with. I would say, "Thank you so much. I appreciate the offer. I would like to take some brief time to consider the offer. Could you please send me the full offer in writing. I'll look over it and get back to you by XDATE."

  • Ask for the offer in writing, and ask if you can have a few days to look things over and ask any questions you may have.

  • Just ask for a few days to think it over. Most interviewers want you to ask them questions at the end of the interview, so chances are you will learn some new info about the job/employer/whatever and I doubt anyone would be surprised if you wanted more than a few minutes to process what you just learned.
