A poll of sorts re: cleaning

How do you clean? I mean do you have a certain routine you follow each week such as Mondays: bathrooms, Tuesdays: kitchen, etc...or just do whatever each day? I am thinking of making a cleaning schedule of sorts but I was just curious as to what other people did.

  • And if you do have a schedule, would you care to share?

  • I have a calendar on the fridge. I just make it up each month. First few months were trial and error of figuring how far to space certain things out. Unfortunately, with the remodel nothing is getting done since the house is a disaster anyways. I hope to be back on track in august.

I do love having the calendar because then I don't feel like I always have to major clean. I can take 10 minutes in a day and get something done plus dh sees it and also helps out.

    Generally, I had:

    sweep kitchen-every 4 days

    vac entire house-1x week

bathrooms- 1x week (sink/toilet)--shower was done every other.

    fridge/fans-quarterly

    dusting-1x week

    change sheets-1x week

  • I'm with Oct30, I have about the same schedule.  I usually clean main floor on the weekend (Saturday usually) and clean the basement about once every 2-3 weeks (not used much), change sheets every other week, clean the refrigerator as needed.  I've cleaned a few times on a Thursday night and loved that it was done and out of the way for the weekend, but it's hard to do that with work and kids.
  • I used to have a set schedule but I never kept up with it.  Now I do laundry Friday evenings and Mondays, change sheets Mondays, clean the fridge Thursday nights, and just clean when needed.

  • I work 4 days/week so my day off is cleaning day, no specific schedule because my days off vary.  I scrub the kitchen and bathrooms (scrub floors about 1-2x/month) about once a week. DH usually does laundry, vaccuuming, and dusting about 1-2x/week.
  • You are all WAY more organized than me!  I definately do not have a schedule.  I pick up day-to-day as needed, and do all heavy cleaning/sheets/etc. at least every other Saturday.  We deep clean on Thursday nights if we are having guests for the weekend.  We don't have kids (unless stepkids are around), so that may be why it's different?
  • I have the craziest work schedule ever, so I just clean when I can, which seems like every time I'm home, I have to clean. Days off when hubby and kids are not home are great for deep cleaning for me. :)
