question for my shore gals - seafood restaurant rec

I am super craving some good seafood right now and since DH and I are heading to AC this week, I thought maybe we could find something tasty down there.  Ideally it would be great if it was in AC, but we're willing to drive to somewhere around AC if anyone has a good rec.  Bonus if it's romantic or generally just not a hole in the wall, although sometimes those are the best places. I don't go to AC a whole lot, so I really don't know what's there beyond the Continental/Buddakan Philly-esque places I can get here.  I see there is a Phillips and a Dock's Oyster House, are either of those any good? We also have a free meal at the steakhouse in the Chelsea one night where we are staying, so we really only have one free dinner night.  So give me your best place!

Oh, and when I say seafood, I'm mostly interested in shellfish. Maybe some scallops. Oysters. I don't eat a lot of fish, beyond mahi-mahi but DH does.

And gold star to anyone who can find me a place with some good cocktails, or even just a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives (Beach Creek in Wildwood fits all of my above specifications but I'm not about to drive to Wildwood)

TIA!

  • Actually, the Chelsea has great martinis so you can get your fix when you eat there. You'll love the ambience there.

  • If you have time, I would check out some of the restaurants at Gardener's Basin.  Not romantic, but right on the water and good for casual seafood.  They have a breakfast/lunch place called Gilchrist's and it's supposed to be amazing.  The whole area has a great vibe...very relaxed and fun!  We were there last weekend and had some pretty good food at the Back Bay Ale House.

  •  Thanks all!  Docks it is!  I looked at the menu online and YUM. I want to order everything.

Kel - I am totes down with that!  I looooove that place!  We probably won't get to Wildwood this year, but you never know.  I'm gonna try for a weekend in August or early Sept.

  • I hope you enjoy Dock's. It is a GREAT place and we have enjoyed it several times.  I'm going to add a new one to the mix--the Knife and Fork Inn (they own Dock's Oyster House).  We went for the first time on Sunday night and had an amazing dinner.

I had the Crab and Avocado Terrine, followed by the Yellow and Red Beet Salad with Goat Cheese.  We ordered sides of sauteed spinach and roasted yukon gold potatoes. The mr ordered the Oysters on the Half Shell with Jalapeno Sorbet (yum, that sorbet was very tasty!), followed by the Classic Wedge and finished with the Corn Chowder.  We then split the dessert sampler.   My parents both had filets and enjoyed them.
