Maternity Leave letter

Did any of you supply a letter to be sent/emailed to clients or customers. I seriously thought I would find a million great examples online but really haven't. I have found a few that I can tweak but really wanted to keep it simple and not quite so flowery so am having a hard time cutting them down.

Re: Maternity Leave letter

  • I sent one to my kid's parents.
  • I can't imagine it would be any different than any other extended leave.  For example, when I was out for 3 weeks for the wedding, all customers knew beforehand and most already knew my POC for any needs.

I would probably just drum up something that says I will be out from X Date to X Date and will/will not be checking emails, etc.  Then say for any needs please contact Susie Q at email/phone.

  • My good friend here on campus had an away message on her work email that said something like this:

I will be out on maternity leave from xx/xx until xx/xx.  Your business is very important to us so should you need anything during that time, please email xxxxx@xxxx.xxx or call xxx-xxx-xxxx.

I will respond to your emails as soon as I return.  Thank you again for your continued business.

    Sincerely,

This is perfect. Sorry if I was making it sound more complicated that it really is of course I could come up with something but I felt like everything I typed out looked stupid for some reason then when I googled every result was so specifice.

  • I don't recommend specifying why you're out but otherwise I like what Stacey wrote. Just the HR lady in me.

This was going to be my next question.

There really are some bad letter/examples out there. I will be specifying the amount of weeks I will be out and if someone asks I don't think it's a big deal to say why but I thought it should be very simple to start.

  • I plan to say that I will be out on "extended" leave as opposed to "maternity" leave in my out of office message.

Oh good one. I just said I would be out of the office and in the subject line said 'upcoming leave' but our email was down so now I can change it. LOL

This is what I did. Most of the vendors/customers I work with all knew for months that I would be out for 3 months. The last month of work I put the following in my email:

I will be on maternity leave from Nov X to March X. If you need any assistance while I am on leave please contact manager 1, asst manager or temp coverage. I look forward to working with you all again upon my return. I also listed the email address for all parties.
