What Do You Buy at Costco/BJs/Sams?
Both of my bosses are on vacation... So I'll be a PW today.
I know this question gets asked a lot on MM, but I was wondering what you ladies buy at these big discount stores.
Re: What Do You Buy at Costco/BJs/Sams?
Foodwise, we use our Sams membership to stock up on chicken, bacon, nuts, and cheese. Occasionally we'll buy seafood, produce, and/or jerky.
Nonfood stuff is really hit or miss. There's nothing we regularly get there, it's more like if something catches our eye while we're shopping. They do have a dining table set right now that we're considering.
My Ovulation Chart
I just got a Costco membership & I'm in love.
So far I've bought:
-Coke/Diet Coke
-Produce (Spinach, baby carrots, blueberries)
-Paper Towels/TP
-Clif Bars
-Laughing Cow Mini Babybel Cheese
-Hummus
-Frozen Chicken Breasts
-Frozen Veggies
-Coffee
-Generic Splenda
-Pistachios & Almonds
-Beef Jerky for DH
We're also planning on switching to Nature's Domain dog food sold at Costco. It's $20 less per bag than what we currently feed with very similar nutritional values. We got some free samples of it while we were there this weekend & so far Cosmo isn't scratchy
& apparently, Costco has Lululemon knock off yoga tanks/pants/jackets. I plan buying a few of those.
We used it for the produce, giant bags of organic carrots and spinach, peppers, avocados, etc. I also buy butter there, it's way cheaper per lb. than the grocery store even with sales and coupons. I also buy baking supplies there, much cheaper than the grocery store, like 25 lb. bags of flour, 10 lb. bags of sugar, pints of vanilla extract, etc. Mostly just around Christmas for my big holiday baking though.
For dry goods, I get trash bags and toilet paper. JJ also always gets flowers from Sams for me, it's like, $18 for 2 dozen roses.
So true. I think a pint is like $8... which is how much 2ish ounces is a Publix.
We bought all my wedding flowers at Costco, same price. My mom went a couple weeks early and they said they would make sure to have enough of the right color and set them aside for us.
My Ovulation Chart
Avocados--they have really nice ones that are never overripe and are $4 a bag
Organic berries--a huge container is the price of a small one at the grocery store, so I buy several and freeze them.
Parmesan reggiano cheese
Frozen ravioli packs--they're all natural
Birthday cakes
Flowers
Zyrtec--140 is only $5 more than 75 from a drugstore
Ivory soap
Dove shower gel
Cat litter
Eos detergent (again, twice as much for barely more than a small container at a regular store)
Tide
Books...
The list goes on!
It wouldn't have occurred to me to look at the prices of their allergy medicine versus the drugstore. Allegra just went OTC so my insurance doesn't cover it anymore. I kept getting these annoying notices in the mail from Walgreens saying how great it was. Uh, no, it's not great. Now it costs me more money. Assholes.
Anyway, we had a membership but let it expire.
ETA: I just looked online and they have two 45 count bottles for $35. One 45 count bottle is $24 on sale at Walgreens. Definitely a better deal at Costco.
TP, paper towels, tissues
Chicken, other meats
Allergy Meds
Deoderant, body wash, razors
100 Cal Snack Packs
Cheese
Lunch Meat
Random home stuff like china or saute pans
All kinds of other stuff, basically anything we know we will use
I
Costco.
I forgot almond butter.
There's a brand thats like $11 for a small jar at Publix... its $6 for one twice the size at Costco.
Oh, and Ziploc bags! Buy a box of freezer ones and you're set for the year.
TP
Paper Towels
Ziploc Bags
Laundry Soap/Bleach/Fabric Softener
Socks
DH's Undershirts/Boxers
Soda
Dish washing soap
Sponges
Clorex Wipes
Cheese
Butter
Coffee
Sonny's BBQ Sauce
