Possibly Buying a House...

I seriously feel like I'm hyperventilating over this.

DH's mom's best friend's husband (could that sound more disconnected) is selling his mom's house. FIL is the listing agent and it's within our price range. He took us to see it yesterday and we absolutely loved it! Our pre-approval expired 10 days ago, so we are waiting to hear back from the mortgage broker today and make sure that everything goes through.

If the pre-approval goes through, then we are putting an offer in on the house. We already talked to the family friend listing the house and told him what our offer would be and he said that it would be accepted. This house isn't even on the market, yet. FIL put off listing it so we could see it first and possibly purchase it.

This is stressful. Really stressful. I can't believe that after today I could potentially be a homeowner. Wish us luck!

Re: Possibly Buying a House...

  • Good for you guys!!!

I'll tell you that buying a home was probably THE most stressful thing in my life to this point. We had 3 offers in that fell through (were accepted and under contract) before we got our house. It's a really stressful experience. Good luck on everything!

Second only to the wedding.  Childbirth was easier...

Not for me. I love planning and being in control, so the wedding was bliss for me. Not being in control of the market or other offers, or what's in the seller's mind killed me.

Ahhh well there you go -- I had no control of my wedding, either.
