Twins Game Questions

DH and I are are going to our first Twins game this weekend. Where is the best place to park? We are driving in from Golden Valley, is there light rail service that way (I am 99.9% sure no) but want to check.

Also we are hoping to go early and eat first. It's a 1:10 game, what time would be good to get there? And any recs for places to eat?

Anything else we should know for twin newbies.

Re: Twins Game Questions

  • No light rail coming from the west, but you can park at the park and ride at 393 and Hopkins Crossroad and take an express bus to the game. I've been lucky and haven't had to pay to park because DH works so close to the stadium. We can leave the car at his work lot and just walk over. But you've got the big ramps right there next to the stadium and Target Center. No clue what they cost, but it's convenient as hell. Lots of other little lots around the 1st Ave area where you can park fairly cheap.

Kieran's Irish Pub is close by, and so is Hubert's. Have fun!

  • Will you be bringing DD? We always park at Lee's Liquor Lounge (on the corner of Glenwood and 12th st); they do not allow game day parking in their lot, however you CAN park there if you go in the bar and have a drink before heading up to the stadium. We do this because it's free to park and drinks are cheap in the bar, and there are usually a bunch of other Twins fans in there. I have seen young children in there before on their way up to the game, so if you have DD that would be your choice to bring her in or not.

Thanks for the advice. We aren't bringing DD.

We usually get to the stadium about an hour early and walk around and people watch.  Also, I'm a big fan of stadium junk food so I recommend eating there.  We love the loaded nachos, kettle corn, and cuban sandwiches- num!

If we get there early can we eat somewhere? Like is there seating around? I have heard great things about the food and would love to try it.

There's not "seating" like you're using the word, but you can get your food and go to your seat. I think that's what most people do.

Yes, there is actually a bar/restaurant inside Target Field. It's called Townball Tavern and they actually have pretty good food. It's on the 2nd level below the Budweiser deck.

Town Ball Tavern is by gate 6, there's also Hrbek's bar/grill which is by gate 14. So there are a couple options for pre-game restauranting within the field.
  • There is also a bar (I can't think of the name of it, it's got number for a name, like 531, or 831 or something like that), it used to be Old Chicago right on 1st Ave, it's right next to Smalley's. They have a special, you get 2 for 1's if you show your Twins tix before or after a game. Also had a pretty good food menu.
