WWYD?

Lance's cousin's little boy had hand foot and mouth disease a couple of weeks ago. He is completely fine and not contagious anymore,

Back when he was contagious we had a big family birthday for a few different people, including said cousin, so I called her and asked if she planned to bring her son, and if so I would take Wyatt elsewhere (we were staying where the party was). She said she wasn't coming, and my MIL said that it would be pretty ridiculous for cousin to being a sick kid to a party, making the healthy one go elsewhere...

A few days ago I picked up my niece to stay with us for a week, and she came with all of her germs and spread her cold to Wyatt and me. We were supposed to go to the lake today where cousin and her son are (she is teaching swimming lessons, he is being babysat by my MIL and she wants help)... Should I return the favor? It's just a sore throat and a cough, Wyatt hasn't been acting sick other than a small cough every once in a while... but I think it would be kind of rude of me to now bring my sick kid over to play with her healthy one, but MIL really wants me there as the kid is a handful

Thoughts?

Re: WWYD?

  • Maybe call the mom and tell her what's going on.  If she is okay with Wyatt playing with her son, then go.  If she would rather you not, then don't go.  Your MIL should hopefully respect that.

  • If your child is sick or not feeling well, wouldn't it be best for him to stay home and relax a bit? I wouldn't worry about what they'll think, I'd be more focused on helping my child get better.
