Hi ladies! I haven't really posted on here much, but I am a Houstonian! I live in a 900 sq ft apartment facing west over on the west side of Houston, and my electric bill was $302 for last month! Am I crazy or is that a little high? Who do y'all have?

Um, wow. We have 2700+ sq feet and my bill last month was 225, so yeah definitely high.

We have Startex Power. We pay around 9 1/2 cents per KWH.

That's insane!! We have 2400 sq ft, I'm home all day so the a/c is on 73 all the time, and I pay more ~ 11 cents for green energy. Even with all that our bill was only $155 last month. We use bounce energy.

We have Reliant. We were paying ~14 cents per kilowatt. However, we just started a new plan with them that put it down to 11.1 cents. We are moving in 2 weeks, and our new apartment will be 1100 sq ft, but it will face the east, and it was built only 2 years ago so I assume *fingers crossed* that hopefully it will keep out some of that heat.

Have your complex check the AC too. It could be the lines and not your apartment at all. Good luck lowering that bill either way. That's too high.

Wow, that is expensive! We have a 2000 sq ft house, & our bill was $95. We have Pennywise and pay approx 5-9 cents per kwh.

I lived in a 933 square feet facing west, top floor and a corner unit for four years and that was our average summer bill. The complex was built in 1993 and had the original a/c. It sucked! We switched energy companies a few times for better rates and each time had someone out to look atthe meter cause in my mind there was no way the bill should have been that high. We just moved into a house, doubled our square footage and our bill was cut in half...I'm guessin better insulation.

I'm guessing this is the issue, too. I'm moving in two weeks to a newly builty apartment property and I will be facing east so I hope my bill gets cut substantially.
