I hate the project I'm working on

It's the Teardrop Bag from Amy Butler's Style Stitches.

It's not the bag that's the problem, more my attitude.

I'm not thrilled with the fabric I chose, but the recipient will love it.  I'm irritated with cutting out the fabric, and the hassles with the interfacing.  I've been working on it (or not) for over a week and I have to finish it, so I can move on to other projects.  There are dolls calling my name!

If I'd get off the nest, my machine is freshly oiled and my bobbin wound and I'm ready to sew.  And I'll likely have the bag done tonight.  But it's like pulling teeth.

Re: I hate the project I'm working on

  • I would suggest that you take a break. Stop thinking about it completely. Then, when you feel better, sit down calmly and get it over with.

Unless, of course, it is not worth the trouble. If so- don't do it. Doing something that makes you unhappy accomplishes no goal but to make you unhappy.

If you do have to do it, do it. Just try thinking about it in a different way. Notice the fun aspects of making it. Look at something cool you can do with it, and do it! Remember, that while you may be giving it away later, it is completely yours when your making it. If you have to make it so that someone else likes it, compromise. Make it so you will BOTH like it.

__--May you have happiness in life.

  • I would put it off for a bit and do something fun. My time away from lo is so precious that I can't imagine squeezing hobby time in that would include yucky feelings.

    Good luck!

  • At first, I thought you were posting about the Pets board ''fun project'' :) The prototypes you made are so cute, and the Pyr just makes me laugh, it's so perfect.

I agree with the PPs: take a break. It sounds like you need one, and your attention is already elsewhere.

The puppies were a diversion.  What I'm working on is a bag for a friend that traded me a bunch of fleece and stuffing for the bag.
