SO and I are getting ready to leave for Maine this week and we will be staying with a couple of friends there. I would like to get them a small gift just to say thanks for letting us be your guests. I looked around yesterday and found a board game and a funny book that I thought they might like. I think I might put a gift bag together but I feel these two items themselves aren't enough. What other ideas do y'all have? As an alternative, I thought about ordering some Omaha steaks, but I think I'd prefer to bring the gift with me rather than receive something after the fact. This couple is originally from Oklahoma and moved to Maine two years ago to study medicine.
Re: Gift ideas?
That's nice of you to make them a basket! Maybe some food items that are made in OK? A BBQ sauce, salsa, snack mix you like/know they like but can't get where they're at now?
We just got back from our Maine vacation, where we stayed with H's aunt and uncle for eight days. We ended up buying them dinner at this great restaurant called Newick's. It's fantastic seafood, and not cheap. Other than that, I think salsa is a great idea if they like that sort of thing. Good salsa (or Mexican food seasoning of any sort) is really tough to find up there.
Have a great time, I miss it already!
