Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
Did anyone sign up yet? Does someone have to invite you? I'm so confused by all of it. I have read articles and have seen the flow charts but I'm not quite sure I'm on board yet. I know it's purpose is to compete with Facebook but from what I can see, I'm can't tell how that's possible. I'm sure more and more layers will be added eventually.

Re: Tell me about Google +
I have an account, and yes, I had to be invited. They seem to release invites in waves, then put a block on them for a bit, then release another batch. Last time I checked, there was a freeze on them, but next time I'm logged in I can check and if there are invites available, I'll let you know.
It's still in the fledgling stages and I'm not using it regularly yet, but I can definitely see the appeal over Facebook. I appreciate that I can customize who sees what from my profile and status updates, and I can also fully customize what I see and from whom. I'm less concerned with security and my information being leaked/sold/shared with someone I haven't authorized. I also trust Google far and above Facebook and don't foresee them dickingg around with my security settings so that I have to go in every month to make sure it hasn't been reset.
The UI has a very different feel and it took some getting used to, but I'm learning my way around and it's definitely not difficult. The only reason I don't use it more often is because only a handful of my friends/family have created accounts and I'm not yet ready to abandon Facebook. If the people I value communicating with all make the switch, though, I'll delete my FB in a heartbeat.
My brother invited me and I'm on it. I can't figure it out though bc I can't get on it at work and I can't figure out if it is the same on the ipad or different or what. So I'm on it and people keep adding me and everything and I'm just kind of there lolol.
I actually just got an invite yesterday and joined. I'm not overly impressed with it so far. It is a little confusing to learn (although, FB has not always been easy to navigate). Honestly, from what I have seen so far, the concept doesn't seem much different than FB. You have "circles" instead of "groups." You can set your settings similarly to the way you can on FB to monitor who can see your information. There is a wall you post things on and then instead of a "like" button there is a "+1" button.
I'm just not sure if I have the energy to keep up with another social networking site but I am interested in seeing if it is able to compete with FB and how it evolves.

I have a Google + (DH sent me an invite after one of his friends invited him), but haven't done much of anything with it yet since so few people have it.
I read one article discussing privacy concerns of +, stating that its terms of service indicate nothing is actually private, regardless of the settings. Another article claims that privacy concerns are completely bogus (although I can't find EITHER article right now!).
Just food for thought.
