Tara or anyone else that has let their baby CIO

When you let Parker CIO, did you go in his room at all or did you just let him scream?

Re: Tara or anyone else that has let their baby CIO

  • I've been doing this for about a month now with Wyatt. I only let him cry for 5-10 minutes before I go to him, then I comfort him and put him back down. Eventually he'll settle himself or tire himself out crying and he'll go to sleep after I comfort him

Is he sleeping through the night?

  • We couldn't go into his room.  We tried in the beginning to go comfort him after 10ish minutes, but it would just get him even more upset.  If we would go in and pick him up to calm him down, the second we would put him back down he would start hysterically crying.

We just let him cry and cry.  It wasn't as bad when we were putting him to sleep, it was the night wakings that it was the hardest.  It was definitely worth it.  One thing I wish I had was a video monitor.  A million things would run through my mind while laying there listening to him cry.  I was always worried about if he got a foot/arm stuck in his crib (because that has happened before), if he lost his paci, if he had a poopy diaper, etc.  It was really rough, but harder on mom and dad.

It is a hard decision to let them CIO and a lot of people will give you the side eye, but it work for us.  I was definitely one of the side eye people until I was in the situation.  Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.
