New to Community--Mirena Question

Hello all,

I had the Mirena IUD for 5 months. I had it taken out on July 1 due to some side effects it was having on my body. Right after ( I mean, 4 hours after) I started something that resembled my cycle. It stopped about 4-5 days after. Ever since removing the IUD, my breasts have been extremely sore. Has anyone had these issues?

We have not had sex since it was taken out either so I know I am not pregnant.

 Thanks!

Re: New to Community--Mirena Question

  • You should mention that to your OB/GYN. Mirena causes your body to do all sorts of weird things, and it tends to vary from woman to woman. What sort of side effects were you experiencing to make you take it out? Were there any issues with your breasts being sore beforehand?

Either way, I'd just be on the safe side and ask your OB what s/he thinks it could be.

  • Hi - I am also new to the community. I have the paraguard because my body cant handle the hormones the mirena offered. I wish I could be more helpful. It sounds like your body and hormones might be a little disturbed from the removal of the mirena. I would certainly go see your OBGYN and also if they arent helpful please go and get yourself a second opinion.
